Gladiating Teenage Boys.

My sister is sick with the sinus/cough/fever thing. She is the last in the house to have it. First The BFF had it really nasty and then I had it less so and now my sister has it somewhere in between our levels of severity. Still, she insists she will go to work in the morning. I'm betting she won't. This did mean that we caught up on all the ( Read more... )

Right? It was such an awesome dream.

My sister said I should write it as a fic and I was like, "Josh Jackson/Elijah Wood is not a valid ship," but apparently my subconcscious thinks otherwise, and I have pretty much been thinking about it since I dreamed it.

LOL, that was one hell of a dream. Also, I really like that gay marriage is legal there. ;)

I was sad to wake up from the dream - I wanted to know if Josh Jackson lived or not.

I was really proud of our apocalypse-future having gay marriage, even if it is barbaric enough to also let teenage boys fight lions. 8)

Your dreams make me so happy.

I hope they make Katniss EVerdeen more sympathetic in the Hunger Games movie - she's pretty much a bitch in the books.

My dreams make me happy too!

You didn't like Katniss? Bearing in mind that I still haven't read book 2 and 3, I like her. But then I relate to her and her home situation on a whole level that is a little scary.

I admire her determination and single-mindedness, but she is not a good or nice person. At all (even before 2 and 3).

See, I totally see it differently. I mean, she is a teenage girl - they are all kind of bitches - but you can't say she isn't good at all when she volunteered in her sister's place. And when she 'buried' Rue - I cried like a baby.

Is this the first time we've ever disagreed on something? Holy shit. ;)

Thank you! My sister stayed home from work for two days - I know you know she never misses work, so that is saying something. But she seems to be on the upswing now. Now if we could both just stop sneezing.

Your unconscious dear, *shakes head* a very strange place indeed. It's like that Steven King (I think) story bout the foot race where the winner gets his wish (or something like that, it's been awhile)

*sends get well hugs to ya'll*

I don't think I know that book.

Thank you! My sister has at last stopped running a fever. Now we both just have to stop sneezing.

Good. I'm glad to hear you guys are doing better. :)

I think it's from a book of short stories. It's this big deal race for teens and the winner gets like his hearts desire or something. The catch is they can not stop for any reason until they reach the finish line. No stopping to sleep or potty breaks or anything, every thing must be done on the move and if they do stop they can be killed by the race moderators. It comes down to two boys, the pov character and the unsuitable boy. It gets really intense at the end with the pov character winning, but not realizing it because he's so focused on staying just that one step ahead of the other boy who has actually died. It's that wonderful creepy ambiguous King ending.

Omg, I must find out which series of short stories I can find this in - I want to read it. I have read one of his short stories anthologys and it wasn't in that one. I'll have to do some research on that.
