Posted this to my disability blog, but it ended up being like a whole actual post, not just my usual paragraphs I post over there, and as it is about my life and this is my life-journal, I figured I'd post it here too. On the upside, I really did get a great discount on the frames I was shopping for, so I still call it a win

*hugs* Glad you got your frames!
And no, I don't recommend going to another hobby-type store, because Hobby Lobby is run by hypocrites in everything! I can't think of another equivalent, either. Frames can be expensive! Sometimes I buy very shitty art in a frame I like and just take (rip, cut, tear and otherwise destroy) it out. It's often cheaper, but the downside is it takes searching time.

You know, I think the reason I don't like the monster truck wheels is because it is just a symbol of the asshole-ish-ness of their owners. I have never met a person who puts monster truck wheels on their regular old truck that wasn't an entitled asshole.

I got good deals, like a 16x20 and a 10x12 for $40 total, great deal!

No, Hobby Lobby is a bunch of bigoted conservative assholes. Fuck those guys! Even if we had a HL in this town, I wouldn't shop there! Michaels isn't great but the only other option here (without driving 40 mins) is the downtown art shop, which is mega expensive. I support small businesses when I can afford it, but Michaels is by far the easier (they have everything I need in one stop) and cheaper option. But they need a fucking policy in place for parking lot

Still BOOO MICHAEL'S!

Perfect. And you inspire me to be more alert to this transgression, as well.

Good!! It tends to fall on the disabled to report such parking violations, when everyone should be on the lookout for this type of thing, for the sake of their disabled brothers and sisters! And dismissive management is not management at all. Every store should have a policy and by the time I get done with it, at least hopefully every store in my hometown will! ;)

I second what vikingprincess said about Hobby Lobby. That chain is run by really horrible, intolerant people and heaven help you if you need to return something.

I hope your sister follows up on writing to their headquarters, though.
What kind of art did you get that you needed frames for?

Yeah, sadly, me too. But that shouldn't be the case. People taking that one extra step of courtesy to make the disabled's lives more accessible and easier shouldn't be a shock, it should be the norm. But it isn't. I always give that theater props because it amazed me so, but then it makes me sad that their actions were the exception to the norm, when it shouldn't be like that. I can't do much to change the world, but I'm gonna keep working on the stores I shop at here until they all have better accessibility and policies in place for me and my fellow spoonies! (or I'm just gonna keep writing emails and they will get ignored, like the 4 emails to my doctor's office - a DOCTOR'S office for crying out loud - to get a damn handicap door button!

I was going to, but then I was like, "Naw, you can't post pics of somebody's else art, that's weird." Idk, but this reminds me, I want to take pictures of the piece and send them to her and encourage her to post them to her tumblr, so maybe if she does that I'll post the link here. Though, idk, it's just my LJ, there's only like 20 of you who still read this and it would be cool to post the individual sketches side by side with a pictures of the actual cats, so you all can see how good she did capturing them.
Yeah, maybe I will.

Here we have a catchy slogan for buckling your seatbelt - Click It or Ticket! Because if you don't wear your seatbelt (click the buckle into place), you get a ticket. And I want a catchy slogan for public service announcements for having a disabled sticker. I just have to think of one.
