I Inherited My Squee. It's Genetic!

So, the other night my dad called to ask me if I watch Castle. This is not a new thing for him. One time he spent five minutes telling me everything that happened in an episode of Castle he had just watched. He really likes that show. A friend of his from the hospital turned him onto it and he’s been catching the reruns on TNT. I told him what ( Read more... )

All that old late 80s TV, especially the sci-fi genre stuff when it was just taking off. How about Sliders, were you a Sliders fan? We have the complete series on DVD!

I saw quite a few episodes of Sliders. That was an unusual show.

It's nice to be able to get all geeky about things with my parents and have them totally get it! I mean, my mom side-eyed the hell out of me when I started writing fanfic, so I think they are predisposed to judging geeky-activities, but I know if they embraced it, they'd be all about fandom - clearly as my dad wants to have lengthy conversations about Castle's relationship with Beckett and his relationship with his daughter and...yeah, Dad, underneath your crazy Limbaugh-talk, you're a fanboy!

OMG, during the first season of Castle, I fell so in love with the father-daughter relationship and bonding and silliness!

Castle is fun, I stopped watching it sometime in I think the third season as life was getting too busy, but I always loved it.

Also this is a wonderful thing to get from you dad. I think my love of rereading and rewatching and examining from other angles comes from mainly my mom with some from my dad. My dad's more of a completetist, who'll read everything of an author or watch a lot of films by the same director or actor.

I really liked Castle, but I only watched the first season and then it conflicted with something else (back when we only had the one-tuner Tivo) so I bailed on it. But I catch a rerun here and there and I can see it being a show that I might stream all of once the series is over.

Or how she is insisting on watching SPN to the end, even though it sucks now. I'm more of a 'bail before it gets ruined' kind of girl ( ... )

No, like, that's actually legit the perfect way to express when I get geeked out over a thing that I already got geeked out over like twenty years ago! Retro-fangirling...that's how I'm going to describe it from now on! lol
