Hunger Games fic! Have some angsty hurt/comfort starring Gale & Finnick. (It didn't go past Gen PG, and I thought 'maybe that means I'm growing as a person?', but then I thought, 'Naw'). Spoilers for all three books, beware. 1,549 words.

Oh, I liked this a lot. I was just saying to somebody yesterday that there isn't enough feel-good fic in this fandom and that you have to grab it whenever you can find it - sort of hard to write what with the children's death matches an all that. It's so uncommon to read about two adult men being so comfortable with touch, especially in a gen fic, it's very sweet to read. And it's so nice to think that the two got some comfort from each other. Plus, I'm pleased to learn that somebody else beside me thinks these two would have an interesting dynamic!

It's so uncommon to read about two adult men being so comfortable with touch, especially in a gen fic, it's very sweet to read.

You hear all these things about how touch is so essential to us on a mental front and I spent a lot of Finnick's time in District 13 just wanting someone to offer him genuine comforting touch, that even though that wasn't my original intent with this fic, it just sort of came out as I was writing it. I imagine Gale, even surrounded by his whole family, is craving it in the way that he really starts to hold himself off from others. I am so glad that this element that wormed its way into my story worked so well for you.

Plus, I'm pleased to learn that somebody else beside me thinks these two would have an interesting dynamic!

They were two of my utter favorites reading the books and I really wanted them to interact more - I see so many similarities in the way people expect certain things from them, expect so much

Ah-ha! I love making people discover fic in fandoms they never would have thought of reading in! Hunger Games made my head spill open for awhile there. I keep meaning to reread it all to spark some more of those ideas I had back when I first read it as well.
