Spring Cleaning Inside My TV.

Apr 11, 2013 15:14

It’s getting that time of year...spring cleaning for the Tivo. A whole host of cable shows just ended their runs for the season; Being Human, The Walking Dead, Justified, Hoarders, What Not To Wear (which actually does split seasons). Even Lost Girl only has two episodes left! How is that possible? This season was way too short. Also, it was ( Read more... )

Do you get the channel Lifetime? They usually air reruns of "Hoarders" (or one of the hoarding shows) on Friday night. I'm mesmerized by shows like that.

It's funny because when I go into the Tivo and click the option for 'Hoarders', it comes back with a list of, "Lifetime, Lifetime, Lifetime, etc." Sadly, I think I've seen all the reruns. /hides head in shame/ I need new episodes! There was actually a season (or two?) where I told my sister I needed a break from it because it was too depressing (I think this was during the time when both my parents were really letting their houses go). But after a certain amount of time, I said, "Okay, let's try Hoarders again," and I swear we caught up on everything we missed then ( ... )

I also watch "Hoarders: Buried Alive" on TLC. I must enjoy watching people digging through 'stuff', because another favorite is "American Pickers" on HIS.

Mom is still bringing me paper to go through (although not as often as when we started), and I've unearthed an unused (and still good) Target gift card from about 10 years ago, an unused (and still good) Souplantation gift certificate, and an uncashed check (not still good, alas) for $12.00.

We tried Hoarders: Buried Alive (because the title sounds so dramatic!) but something about the format put us both off. I still can't figure what it was, except maybe we just missed Matt & Corey? ;)

American Pickers - I just checked out the wiki on it and it sounds right up my alley! That's what I liked the most about Storage Wars (which I just quit watching) was when they would find like actual 'treasures' in amongst the junk. I didn't care about the bidding, I just wanted to see what they found.

Awesome! Very cool that they are still good for use! :)

I'm simply shocked that they would cancel WNTW! I mean, watching that should be MANDATORY for the hoes of the world, and those who want to mock them, right?

I was reluctantly sucked into Arrow's rerun last night. It just seems so up and down in quality overall. And I was only watching so I could see SPN, and then that was a rerun too! I am sad.

However, I get Glee tonight! (Yeah, I'm seriously just watching for the new kids and the ones still at the school. The NYC storylines all need a swift kick in the nuts or slap in the face.)

Apparently Stacey & Clinton wanted to do other things. Pfft. Whatever. They just have not had a lot of real whackjobs lately either. No skin tight leopard body suits or like the woman who sewed flames on all her clothes or the chick who wore fairy wings everywhere (seriously, those things happened!) I like the crazy ones the best. But I also have learned some valuable tips too. I try to pay attention when it is a very short person, anyone under like 5'2, and take tips that way. My style has so improved since I started watching this show, even if someone people /coughsistercough/ think I still show too much cleavage...like, in a v-neck tshirt, come on ( ... )

I thought it would be fun to be on the show, but even before I started watching it, I had more style than a lot of their guests. My students informed me I looked too good to be on it - which hey, doesn't suck! Plus, I hate getting rid of clothes.... :P

Do you know what they're going to be doing?

Honestly, it's not hard to catch up on Arrow, either. They just don't advance the overall story arc very much with each episode - kind of like a soap opera! But I'll have fun with it every now and then, I suppose.

Yeah, I'm still watching Glee. I'm watching it for the new kids and the high school stuff... and every now and then, there are some pretty good numbers from the NYC storyline. Plus, if the role-establishing Elphaba from Broadway's Wicked keeps on showing up as Rachel's blood mom even once a season (Irina Mendez, I think is her name), I'll get excited.

Clinton has a new daytime talk show (I want to say on ABC but don't quote me on that). Idk what Stacey wants to do - maybe just not put up with the crazies anymore. I wouldn't want to give up my clothes (all my geek tees!) and I wouldn't be too thrilled about being on TV - but if I could just get a makeover and $5,000 and Stacey and Clinton to take me shopping, that would be AWESOME.

Thank you! I can't for the life of me figure out why PBS only ran 8 episodes. Maybe my sister missed one? It's hard to tell because it's on PBS Masterpiece and they just list the episodes as "Downton Abbey, Season Three", so every ep is labeled the same. Idk, but I suppose I have done my part to research the issue for her - but I just know it's going to be one of those things that bugs me until I have an answer.

I've heard some stuff about series three being uber-sad. I don't watch it, but I know enough to understand that the lead romantic male dies, if I am getting that right. My sister rarely pays attention to anything like spoilers or episode talk, so she is in for a shocker!

Thanks! I'll pass it on to my sister. (she is sadly still waiting for Netflix to offer series 2 of DA and she's starting to get impatient. lol)

No, that's no good. I get like that about 'Supernatural', because everybody dies on that show. But I mean, those big tragic hard deaths - you can really only go for one a season or you start to lose your viewers, you know. Will there be a series four of DA?

Basically I have no idea what most of these shows are, but I was feeling a lack of dodger in my life so I had to check your lj on my phone. I've been thinking of watching Arrow, though, even if the first ep didn't really do much for me. I take it you're not too impressed either?

AWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. <3s. I keep meaning to send you an email and then the day gets away from me, you know. But, new Dean/Cas fic posted a few days ago, so you can check that out now.

I've been thinking of watching Arrow, though, even if the first ep didn't really do much for me. I take it you're not too impressed either? It's one of those shows where the lead character is my least favorite. But hey, so was Buffy and that all worked out REALLY well for me. I like all the supporting players on Arrow a lot (though not to the level of the Scoobies by any means). And I like the complex layer of 'what is justice and when does the good guy become the bad guy?' and also, all the shirtlessness. But they have this whole thing about doing flashbacks to when he was on the island and making it this whole big conspiracy and I think they just went too far and are trying too hard, you know ( ... )
