On Failing ...
Two boys, both grown strong, smart, capable, compassionate. I’d call them heroes, but I’m not the type.
And neither are they.
They do what needs doing. Nothing less. Sometimes much more. Helping where help is needed. Killing where killing is needed.
I watch them work from the shadows, and they make me proud. Proud to know them. Proud to have raised them.
Proud to have failed them in so many ways that now, with no reward to drive them and nothing but their own good souls to guide them, they save the world every day, one innocent at a time.
