Nope. Officially I'm in final year when I get back from elective as that's when my senior rotations start :) They way I think of it either my second year is really short or my third year is really short. The med school just refer to everyone as Phase I, junior phase II or senior phase II, years become a touch arbitrary!

Aha - I thought elective came after finals but then thought you were in your third year of four... and in fact, it's even more complicated than that. :D

For 'normal' medical schools elective comes in the summer between fourth and fifth year, which, for certain medical schools does make it after finals (liverpool for example) but due to our lovely weird timetabling we have ours in the spring :) Its because the exams we sit next week mark us as half way through our clinical phase and are the right of passage into final year.
