I consider this as the 8th Doctor's regular costume for the War. At his birth, he was dressed in clothing that reflected his past regenerations, but I like to think that he had a major change during that time. It also helps to explain his transition into the 9th Doctor.

I think "NO" about sums up my feelings toward the new look. To elaborate, though, I liked his previous costume style. It suited him and was nicely retro. This sort of change doesn't work for me. Do not want. Since I don't have to look at it when listening to an audio, though, I'm just going to imagine that he's still wearing his original costume and forget the new ugly one exists.

i am turning into one of Those Fans. i think the costume is one of the worst things that could have possibly happened to the doctor - well, no, it isn't really, but as i said when it was first announced 'a television characters is the sum of his clothing, the doctor more than others'. and obviously that's not strictly true, but in many ways the doctor has been defined by the way he looks. the eighth doctor's earlier costume said - i am the kind of man who wears a frock coat even though it is not appropriate to any of my daily activities. his new outfit says - i am practical. i even have a bag to carry my stuff around in, rather than magic pockets. oh, and by the way, if i was now standing next to my replacement in a line up - you'd have difficulty thinking i wasn't cosplaying as him. again - this isn't just a person whose changed his clothes, he is an icon - who is defined by his look, and who has to regenerate into someone else ( ... )

I am just so, so thankful to have an image of Eight without the wig.

I also like the frock coat and the cravat. And the leather jacket. Eight is so multi-faceted and so complex, I like the idea that he's gone through some transitions. And maybe it makes sense that this is him going into the Time War. I even hinted at something similar in one of my fics.

Oh, and of course Big Finish is canon.

I am mostly just happy that PM is happy. He's pretty much the only Classic Doctor that can still look like he still plays the Doctor, and I find it really touching that he was so invested in the character that he got involved in creating the new look.

I find it a little...IDK simple, but I love the new screwdriver, I actually like the bag (I'm assuming it's been scienced into being interdimensional) and the coat is rather dashing.

I'm also fine with Doctors changing their outfits. I don't think it's the end of the world if they don't have the same costume for all eternity, especially if they've been in one incarnation for an especially long time or gone through a bunch of major events.

In conclusion- new images of PM as the Doctor make me happy.
