Happy 95th birthday to the late, great Patrick Troughton!

I've taken a couple of photos to celebrate what would've been Patrick Troughton's 95th birthday. He may no longer be with us but his spirit and image will live on in the hearts of Whovians world wide and in the episodes he worked so hard in to keep our beloved show going.

I know exactly how you feel. I've experienced that feeling twice over. First with the Star Trek franchise when I was a kid and a teenager and again with Doctor Who as an adult. I've seen the Ice Warriors but I enjoyed Tomb of the Cybermen and Enemy of the World more. Those are the two I've seen multiple times. I watched the Krotons once and can't remember if I've seen any of the other Troughton era serials that are still available in full visual and audio. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed my photos that pay tribute to the actor who kept Doctor Who's momentum going after replacing the original star and ensured that others could do the same after him.

A very Happy Birthday to Patrick! I wonder what he'd think of 2015?? Probably relieved he didn't have to deal with mobile phones. :)

I'd honestly rather not try to imagine Patrick Troughton at 95. He was 67 when he died and his final return to Doctor Who had aired not more than a year earlier so he was still somewhat able to bounce around the room and do all those other Troughtonisms like the flapping his hands about doing that spin and all the other stuff that Matt Smith seemed to have borrowed for his own performance as the Doctor. My point is it would be unlikely Patrick would've been able to do any of that if he were still alive today and it would be hard for me to see that if he wasn't one of those rare 95 year olds that were still active in the community and looked twenty years younger like Stan Lee. I'm not saying it's a good thing he died when he did but I'd prefer to remember as he was when he played the Doctor as opposed to a realistic what if he were alive today.

I found it confusing seeing Matt with so many of Patrick's mannerisms. I know its good Doctor-sync, but hard on my mind. Nice that Matt did such thorough research though.

Be optimistic - I bet he would have been a spry 95 year old. :)

I certainly hope Patrick would've been a spry 95 year old then it wouldn't have been too hard for him to do a multi-Doctor team up with Matt. It would've been like the Gangers episode with 11 and his Ganger duplicate, the only bicker free Doctor team-up, 2 would agree with 11 that bowties are cool even though that isn't a word he'd use and Amy and Rory would've been like "Ugh. It's like the Gangers all over again." "I think that banging in my head is back."
