Forgive me if I'm wrong, but hasn't every other christmas ep been released as a standalone, and then also included in the big boxed set later in the year?

I think so, there's always been the vanilla releases and then the complete boxset, so I don't understand why they were ever going to exclude the Xmas special from it.

They've been really clueless. TDTWATW should have been included in the 7.1 vanilla release just like every other special has been released as part of the 1st vanilla release of the season airing after it. The only possible eplanation for its individual vanilla release is that someone in BBCWorld Wide got greedy, on top of the incompetence being displayed.

However, even if the drivel regurgitated by the spokesperson as to why they initially didn't include it on the boxset is true, it in no way explains why the US were getting it in the set and the UK weren't, a subject upon which they remain noticeably silent.

That's my only conclusion too, they must have figured they could release a stand-alone DVD on or around the 50th anniversary, and try and milk out a few more DVD sales. Cheeky sods. I still think Who DVDs should be sold, at least to UK customers, at or very close to cost.

Either that or Iplayer should allow license fee payers to download shows to keep.

Someone wasn' t thinking about that. My thought was that I hope they also include the last Christmas special, as it is integral to the whole series.

I think originally The Snowmen was included but TDTWATW wasn't.

Now just change the release date for the UK to be the same as or earlier than for us in the US and they'll really be clued in as far as the DVDs go...
