BBC Responds to Reduced Who Complaints

Seems that the 60 minute special that will air in November has not gone down well. At all.

I wonder what Moffat makes of all of this....

“Thanks for your contact regarding ‘Doctor Who’ broadcast on BBC One.

So if I'm understanding this right, there will not only be a 60-minute special, but a super secret surprise event. Coolio.

I don't really mind the series split. Makes for a nice "Who Shot JR?" cliffhanger regarding Clara.

I read it differently, I came away from it thinking there will be one 60 minute episode, and the 90 minute 'making of' drama thing that I have absolutely zero interest in.

Fan Power. I wonder what Moffat makes of this, also? But I imagine there are budget concerns as well.

If it really is budget concerns, I seriously think all they'd have to do is hold a Doctor funraiser and the fans would donate enough to make three 50th anniversary specials within a week if not less.

I see nothing in the BBC response that says "the 60 minute special that will air in November has not gone well".
Also, remind me what's our source for there being a "60 minute" special in November? (The BBC scheduling memo from the other week?) Because the inference I get from the BBC response, assuming that the original complaint was in terms of screen hours, is that there'll be a better hourcount during 2013 than we know now. Perhaps there'll be more specials, or the "60 minute" special will be multiple episodes.

Googling suggests the back of a flyer from a toy trade fair leaked to Blogtor Who was the origin of the flailage within the the more emotionally volatile sections of our extended community. It hasn't been announced.

Doctor Who does a lot with 60 minutes. We'll just have to take what we get and enjoy it. Those who are already upset are going to be disappointed no matter what or who the 50th celebrations include/don't include.
