Lines a different Doctor could have said, lines a different Doctor couldn't have said:

Probably many of you are aware of the video where Sylvester McCoy is given Matt Smith/The Eleventh Doctor's "HELLO STONEHENGE" speech to read from The Pandorica Opens, and cold reads it in character as The Seventh Doctor. As Seven, he gives a different take on it than Matt Smith did, but it still comes out fairly well ( Read more... )

I think it depends. I've always fallen on the same-man side of the debate and think there are more similarities than differences between different versions of the Doctor. On the other hand, a Doctor who is further along is going to have more experiences than an earlier Doctor. So, for example, Nine would not have gone through the things Ten had that caused him to give the "Time Lord Victorious" speech. And Eleven also wouldn't be likely to say that because he's grown further and is no longer in the same place.

So I think in general the lines that come out of specific experiences that are unique to that Doctor are the ones that would sound strange from another Doctor and the lines that are less about specific circumstances are more likely to sound normal coming out of any Doctor.

I do not have anything to add, but that is a cool video and I wouldn't have known to look for it otherwise, so thanks!

You consider 9 to be a goofball? Myself, I thought that 9 was the "darker, edgier" Doctor, and I thought that was the consensus as well.

Although 9 could be goofy...but I didn't think of him as particularly goofy.

I really started taking notice of New Who in the episode Dalek - Nine is just so angry, so full of rage and hatred. Spewing it out at this lone survivor in a way we've never seen before or since.

I honestly can't imagine another Doctor quite so violently angry in just that way. I assume the war was still pretty fresh for him, the rage certainly seemed to be.

That is one of my main examples!

We have seen 11 angry, and angry at Daleks, but it is a much more cold rage. I can't imagine 11 just losing it like 9 did.

And I can't imagine 10 doing that at all.
