A Couple of Quick Questions For People Who've Seen Classic Who...

I'm currently working on the third chapter of a DW WIP fic, and am planning to include a brief reference to Susan. My first question is whether it's ever been specified how old she was when the Doctor whisked her away from Gallifrey in his TARDIS. My other one is if she was still a young child when that happened, how likely is it that the Doctor ( Read more... )

I've just been looking through transcripts of some First Doctor episodes, and there was nothing indicating exactly how old she was when they left Gallifrey. There are, however, a few references to places they had been before they came to 1963 Earth, so seemingly they had been traveling together for a while.

I'm pretty sure that no matter how old she was, it's quite likely that the Doctor could have kept some of her little-girl clothes, since he is her grandfather and he seems quite the sentimental sort as well as a bit of a packrat (ten regenerations later, he still has his own cot from when he was a baby, for example).

As far as I know, there's nothing in the classic series that specifies how old she was when they left Gallifrey. I believe it is mentioned in some of the 8th Doctor BBC books though...

There's at least one comic book that portrays Susan as looking like a teenager/young adult when she and the Doctor left Gallifrey, Time and Time Again.

In the show, no I don't think so. In the books, well, which book or comic series do you want?

Leaving aside how young she was when the TARDIS stole the Doctor and whether she was in it, we do know the Doctor is a habitual hoarder and saver of stuff. He even has his ''own'' crib with him (presumably he stocked up on all his knick-knacks during the rare times he was allowed back on Gallifrey without being subject to a shoot on sight order), so I find it completely believable that he'd have some of Susan's old clothes in there.

In 'Lungbarrow' I think she's in her teens, at least in appearance.

On the other hand, given 'A Good Man Goes To War' it's quite possible that the Doctor's cot was on board because he used it to bring Baby Susan with him when they escaped.
