OBE is not a knighthood? I thought those were the same thing!

In any event, go Bernard!

No, as cool as that would be. There are five levels to the Order of the British Empire: Member, Officer, Commander, Knight/Dame Commander and Knight/Dame Grand Cross. Only the top two (Knight Commander and Knight Grand Cross) automatically bestow a knighthood with the award.

To put it in perspective, though, Sir Patrick Stewart also has an OBE, and The Beatles only received MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire). Sir Patrick and Sir Paul McCartney were knighted as Knights Bachelor, which is different.

You can learn more about the Order here.

A most well-deserved honor for a truly awesome man whose grandkids I envy because I'd love to have had a granddad that awesome.

Bryan Ferry got a CBE, too. So it's a good Honors List!

As did Colin Firth - I kind of figured he would, too, after taking all those awards and did an amazing job playing the Queen's father...

Gongs also for Big Finish's own Tim Brooke Taylor (The Zygon Who Fell To Earth) and Graeme Garden (Max Warp).
