I don't believe him for one second. And crap like this is why most people working on TV shows won't even look at anything unsolicited from fans and use other people to filter things like competition entries so they only see the shortlisted entries. See also: JK Rowling, who has been hit with a zillion claims like this (that only get in the papers when they need a "quirky" story to fill space) and that's in part why she hates fanfic so much and refuses to go anywhere near it.

Yep. And I stay far far away from any and all Star Wars Fanfic because I have edited Star Wars for Del Rey and had to sign an Non-Disclosure Agreement that included legal language telling me to stay away from fanfic and the like.

I can't tell you how many times I have heard writers for TV series or book series that are popular have to shut a fan down from telling them their ideas for the series so that they can say in court that they came up with the idea on their own. And I have lost count the number of times that I have had friends and colleagues threatened to be sue because they had an idea that a fan once had.

This to me doesn't make sense as there were so many stages that have been told in his creation that it doesn't seem to make sense for him to have come up with so close an idea on his own ( ... )
