The Dalek Book also includes this invaluable guide to Dalek language, society, culture and history, to say nothing of the flora and fauna of Skaro. Have you ever heard of the rare arkellis flower, which will take root only in metal, and the sap of which is used to make the Emperor's casing? Or the beautiful lallaward, sorry, I'm still learning, the ( Read more... )

Awesome! I reckon we should all learn these words, and use them in brindigulums on the comm as often as possible.

As for the entries under 'R', though - whatever wibbial compiled this dictionary needs feeding to the Urvacryl! Everyone knows that a rel is a measure of time. (Unless Daleks somehow measure time using hydro-electric flow or something?)

Anyway, thanks for these, and zyquivilly for now. :-)

"Clyffil" should come in useful in our brindigulums!

I think your theory is correct: while we wibbials measure time according to the sun, Daleks apparently measure it in hydro-electricity. We've learned something!

It's a pleasure, and zyquivilly to you too, Quirradill of Dalek language!

And there's me thinking the word meaning farewell was "Exterminate" : snerk: Also note that that particular word isn't there lol. Good resource though if you wanted to incorporate these into oh say, a fanfic....: wicked evil grin, flitches list and places in folder marked "TDC":

also....what would this make poor Dalek Jast? >)

Well, of course not: this catchphrase is an invention of the propaganda that valorises the many war crimes of Ka Faraq Gatri against the peaceful Daleks!

I consulted my correspondent on lovely Skaro about Jast, and it suggests that "ast" translates as "not", so Jast's name would translate as "not a weakling".

Poor Dalek Drenz! I bet he was the one who was nice to Susan; I bet.

And to die in 2003, too! Was there even one good album out that year?

I bet you're right, and I bet somewhere out there is a parallel universe where Susan stayed with Drenz, saved him from the coup and they steered Dalek society on a peaceful course.

My sources indicate that S Club 7's Greatest Hits sold very well on Skaro!
