Mickey, Rory, and the Message That DOES Belong in Who

For WD: link at my journal

Aside from the skeevy racial issues, the thing that always drove me crazy about how Mickey was portrayed in Who was that ( for all the Doctor's enthusiasm for the average human being, once he had ahold of one, he treated him like dirt. )

much love for this post. I have always felt the ordinary guy is a much bigger hero than the showy winner. Lots of love for Rory, an ordinary guy who isn't a fool, buffoon or a loser.

This is an awesome analysis. I don't enjoy Rory as a character, but as someone who is being pushed further and further into the Big City and "Careers' and what I really want to do is live in a small village and start raising a family. There is always a tug between the two things we're supposed to want - to settle down and to 'do great things'.

I love this post. I always felt sorry for Mickey and how he was treated by either 10 and Rose. And I kind of like Rory. He's strong (not physically) and clever and very much down to earth - so much is obvious after the last two episodes.
