New trailer for K-9:

Looks a bit white for near-future London, no? I was... not hopeful, but not unhopeful about K-9 because I read one of the characters was an artful dodger, but I can't even tell which one it is. Anyway, what do you think?

trailers, k-9

This K-9 seems a bit more... straight-up badass. I think I prefer the subtler badassery of normal K-9.

the trailer kind of lacks momentum after a while. it tries to be all movie-trailer-high-point-tension-look-at-all-the-cool-stuff, but it kind of falls flat.

interesting. not sure what to think about it. can't figure out who the intended audience is either.

Kids, looks like. Aussie kids, primarily.

Imagine being told in 2003, before we even heard RTD was bringing it back, that in only six years Doctor Who would not only come back to rapturous acclaim itself, it would be popular enough to launch three spinoff shows, including one for Aussie kids starring K-9. I dunno about you, but I'd have laughed. We live in interesting times.

not only that, but it happened so damned quickly. five years and three spinoffs. that's crazy.

If he's lost his memory, we may never know. I understood that he'd arrive as the original K-9, last seen staying with Leela on Gallifrey, and "regenerate" into the fancy new model, so I wondered if he'd have something to say about the Time War, without infringing the copyright by using the exact phrase.

I just want them to do one scene with K-9 mark I rolling past a radio that starts playing the theme music from you-know-what, prompting Our Hero to turn around immediately and blast the radio into tiny flaming bits.

They put that scene in there, I'll pick up the DVD. No questions asked.

It would be funny: any radio playing that theme needs sploding. On the whole I didn't think you-know-what was as bad as it's painted, though.

I'm inclined to agree. Actually I haven't seen it in a while and ought to cue it up again here fairly soon.

I really quite like the theme to K-9 and Company. It's quite jolly.

It's also the thing that Ian Levine has done that has been the least enormous pile of shit.

One minute and 45 seconds in there's an alien that looks a bit like an axon, but not as shiny (cheaper paint, perhaps?).

I'm not sure I have the attention span to last 26 episodes of it...

Could be, I spose. I'll tune in only if it's going to be like Hollyoaks with sexy Mandrels.

I'm not sure I could last 26 seconds of it, my dear. It looks awful. "Hilarious" mad professor? Boring-looking interchangable trendy kids? No Lis Sladen? Think I'll be sticking with the Sarah Jane Adventures.

Also, it doesn't have Brendan in it. Ah, Brendan. I had quite a crush on him when I was fifteen. As well you know. ;)
