The more I hear about season 4, the more nervous and furious I'm becoming. I mean, some of these rumors can't possibly be true, can they?
1) The Daleks are back. AGAIN.
We've seen them at least once a season already. Now I hear that they're going to be in TWO STORIES this coming season. Hello? It's like they're just recycling the same story over and over again and expect us to put up with it. (The huge season-ender arc? Daleks. Color me shocked.) Would a little originality hurt? Oh, and speaking of originality...
2) A 'cool new alien' is going to be the 'next Dalek'
Yeah, right. Changing the last syllable of 'Cybernaut' does not equal 'brilliant original idea', it equals 'huge ripoff'. What, you think that anything the Avengers can do, Who can do better? And why make one mistake when you can make it twice? That's right, they're wasting two whole stories on these 'new' monsters.
3) We're stuck on Earth. Again.
Don't believe me? Here's a rundown of the locations for the upcoming stories:
1: 1600s Earth
2: Future Earth
3: ACTUAL ALIEN PLANET BE STILL MY BEATING HEART. But with Earth colonists (duh)
4: 1700s Earth
5: Atlantean Earth
6: The Moon. As in, OVER EARTH.
7: Not specified, but seeing as how it's in a 'holiday camp', I'm betting Earth or Earth colony.
8: Modern day Earth
9: Victorian Earth. Okay, a little Skaro, but mostly Earth.
Seriously, how hard would it be to at least shove some guys in rubber suits, film in a quarry, and pretend it's an alien planet?
4) Our favorite blonde companion is going to be replaced by a new girl.
That's right. The girl we've gotten so bonded to is just going to be dumped back on earth with her boyfriend in some kind of stupid 'happy ending'. Way to alienate your audience, BBC. And the new companions are supposed to be from the PAST. *rolls eyes* How are we supposed to be able to bond with someone like that? A companion is about RELATABILITY, people. Oh, and get this: the new girl? The Doctor is going to be her 'guardian'. Can anyone say 'Mary Sue'? Way to trivialize Susan's unique position as his granddaughter. Idiots.
But the biggest, worst rumor I've hear is this:
5) THEY'RE RECASTING THE DOCTOR?!?!?!
This has to just be some sort of massive smoke screen put out by the BBC. If they think that anyone is going to put up with having the beloved lead character replaced by some unknown, they're just plain nuts. It's not like replacing a companion. He's the title character, for Pete's sake! Hands up, anyone who is going to buy this 'regeneration' hokum. Anyone? Hah! If they actually pull this stunt, the show is DOOMED.
