That screencap of Peter Davison, y'know, THAT one...

Jul 08, 2007 13:24

I posted on my lj about the 1975 Tomorrow People story A Man for Emily so I thought it was my turn to share that screencap of a youthful Peter Davison wearing nothing but a blond wig, speedos and sparkly tickle-torture boots.

I wouldn't click this if I were you. )

Yep. I remember watching 'Tomorrow People' and hating that ep. ('A Man For Emily').

Then a couple of years later I started watching Doctor Who and it became one of my favorites.

Not that I still don't cringe at certain spots. . .

I think that with hindsight the cringeworthiness of A Man for Emily is mostly funny rather than painful so it's an appropriate choice for mocking with friends. :-)

Ah wee Peter, proof that Tennant wasn't the first "Too Skinny" Doctor, tho I think he is thinner than Peter. Bless em both.

And they made him wear space clothes too.

That's so disturbing... I think I'm very glad I missed this episode.

Normally with skiffy we can claim that screencaps are less disturbing in context but not with this one, heh! :-)

Wow, I love those boots.

Though to be fair, he's also wearing a flesh-coloured tanktop. You can see the neckline.

This does not detract from the outfit's hilariousness any, I'm afraid.

No, the opening shot of the episode is a close-up which tracks lingeringly up his naked body. He's wearing a neckband as part of his space clothes. :-)

Heh, was just about to comment on the lingering tracking shot from spaceboots to face. Cracks me up no end. As does the bit where he's running about dressed as a cowboy, threatening to shoot people with a fish.

That was one of the first episodes I watched when I got my Tomorrow People DVD sets (both 70s and 90s versions) from the UK. I sat through it twice. Once to watch the episode itself, then again to listen to the commentary (Peter's on it! :D).

I sat through it twice.

I salute your fannish fortitude. I haven't listened to the commentary yet... and it's possible I never will... ;-)

The Tomorrow People is, imo, one of those rare instances of the remake being better than the original.
