Oh my. Oh MY. The ending of this chapter is so gorgeous and bittersweet and touching and romantic and sexy and just--guh. (That's the technical term!) This thing that they're facing is so huge and exciting and terrifying and life-changing and sad and amazing and scary that I can't blame Jones for being unexpectedly overwhelmed in the face of it. No matter how much they've wanted this change, the fact remains that their life together is never going to be quite the same. And Dan's response is... oh, breathtaking. Perfect. &hearts

I'd be weirded out by these two if they weren't feeling overwhelmed. Overwhelmed. THAT is the word I've been looking for. Thank you for that. I think I mentioned in a previous comment to someone that this was a really hard bit to write because these two are struggling with such a jumble of feelings they can't quite name or identify, feelings in conflict with one another, and feelings they're not sure they want to admit to having; wondering if these are average thoughts for expectant parents, fears beyond whether or not they've remembered to babyproof the kitchen cabinets, etc. So sometimes you just have to break down because you don't know what the fuck you're even feeling anymore.

Also, Dan just likes excuses to make Jones brush his hand against Dan's penis, let's face it. THEY LIKE HAVING SEX.

Poor Jones being the one to get all emotional in this situation. :( But it suggests to me that they're going to be great parents, because they already take care of each other so well. Was Jones' moment here the one that you said took you by surprise in your author's note?

You should finish soon, because I've been loving this fic, and I seriously can't wait to see them as parents. The prospect brings me a lot of excitement. :)

That was the bit that took me by surprise, yeah. I was writing and I was like oh hey, they're going to have sex, but then Jones was like :'( I DON'T KNOW WHAT MY EMOTIONS ARE DOING and I was like OH JONES :(
