So. Insomniac. Counting down the days til Christmas with mingled dread and anticipation. And this happened. 11 reasons why Eleven is my favourite of all the New Who Doctors thus far. Let's bring the love.
Every nuance of the Doctor’s incredibly long and chequered past comes across at some point during Matt’s tenure. The terrible guilt he carries over the loss of innocent lives, coupled with the sheer fury he feels towards those responsible for such loss; the grief of so many goodbyes, the bitterness of old, unsettled scores. It all feeds into the character’s motivations and drives his attitude towards his enemies- and towards himself.
Wonderful stuff! Thanks so much for posting this. I agree with pretty much all of it. I love the characteristics you chose, and I especially love the examples you use to illustrate them. Bravo!
:D Thank you. I just wanted to get really squee-ful and happy again before it all goes down on Wednesday. (Not that I'm unhappy about Capaldi, you understand, but...ungh. Show gives me too many feelings.)
Same here. I can't believe I'm the only person who's commented on your lovely post. Is at an LJ issue, or are people just too swamped with pre-holiday crap?
I'm really looking forward to Capaldi, but I will miss Matt. It's the same thing I felt when Tennant left: I loved him, but I was looking forward to what Matt would bring to the role. It's very bittersweet, lots of colliding emotions. I guess this is the sign of a good show? LOL! : )
