The Ice Warriors showed up in a recent tie-in book, The Silent Stars Go By. I have to wonder, actually; the tie-in books all have to be approved by someone on the Doctor Who staff, right? Would they deliberately pick a villain to remind the audience they exist before that villain shows up on the actual show?

Of course, I don't know whether Doctor Who tie-in novels are commissioned or simply submitted by known and trusted authors. Kind of curious, actually. Does anyone know how this stuff gets arranged?
