I hate to do this so soon on the heels of Nicholas Courntney but it is my sad duty to annouce that Elizabeth Sladen, better known as Sarah Jane Smith passed away today at the age of 63
RIP Elizabeth Sladen: 1948 - 2011
Liz first appeared alongside Jon Pertwee during his last season at the age of twenty five. She then appeared in two seasons with Tom Baker finally leaving in 1976, She then went onto appear in the pilot episode of K9 and Company and the four series of the Sarah Jane Adventures as well as appearing in numerous Big Finish Audio Adventures. She returned to Doctor Who alongside David Tennant for the episode School Reunion in 2006.
We were due to have a friending post today as we count down to series six. But the Mods decided this would be in bad taste.
I like to think the Doctor and Sarah Jane would approve of us taking a moments silence to remember one of the best companions in the history of the show. The Whoniverse is a smaller and sadder place tonight. Feel free to share your memories of both Sarah Jane and Liz.
“I saw amazing things, out there in space-but there is strangeness to be found, wherever you turn. Life on Earth can be an adventure too… you just need to know where to look!”
Sarah: Don't forget me.
The Doctor: Oh, Sarah. Don't you forget me.
Oh Sarah Jane.
You will NEVER be forgotten.
