I will love this episode forever and ever and ever for one reason and that reason is that it brought the wonder and awesome and glorious amazingness of RIVER SONG.

Oh god River, I love you so hard. Please don't be the Doctor's wife, but just...be awesome. I SOBBED SO HARD FOR YOU WHEN I BARELY EVEN KNEW YOU BB, WHAT AM I GOING TO BE LIKE NOW I'VE SEEN YOU LIKE ACTUALLY ALIVE AND PROPER AND ASS-KICKING?!

I really loved these two episodes, on their own merits, and for giving us River Song. I liked her immediately: she was smart, and brave, and always completely in control, even when she was deferring to the Doctor's expertise. (That's probably the best thing about her: how she's able to recognize the Doctor's genius and defer to his judgment without it at all diminishing her own competency ( ... )

When I first saw these eppies I enjoyed them, was intrigued by some of the future story hints and how it might fit into everything else. But it was a one off, wasn't it? No way they were going to revisit the character of River Song...

And now I am so moved by the ending, and so in the Doctor's POV... *sniff*... it's hard to watch.

Damn it, Mr Moffat! You have got me!

I dreaded watching these episodes because of my Sister's rage against River Song. When I watched them however, I loved it!

I loved the characters introduced. Especially Miss Evangelista. *Points to Miss Evangelista/River Song HUG icon* And I liked River and with Donna running about, whats not to love!?

*shudders* The Vashta Nerada scared the shit out of me, and the line "Hey! Who turned out the lights?" was like, echoing in my head for DAYS.

I love love LOVE how Moff followed through with River's line to the Doctor in Flesh and Stone: "You. Me. Handcuffs. Must it always end this way?" I flailed around my living room for about five minutes while my dad and sister looked on like, "WTF is wrong with her?"

And in another completely unrelated note, the first time I saw Forest of the Dead and Donna was putting her kids to bed, I screamed because the kids had the same bed dressings as my roommate at the time. She came running and laughed at me, then declared her bedsheets superior to all.

This bothered me actually, because she died in FoTD, so how would she know about the handcuffs when she met Eleven, which is in her past?

I kind of figured that she was referring cheekily to some other event that we haven't yet seen (i.e., not her death). Perhaps when they first meet, or when she gets arrested and put into the storm cage. Like, they have a history of their encounters together ending in handcuffs. She's being glib, but the Doctor, and we as an audience, know that yes, yes it will end this way.

Apparently they've been having lots of fun with handcuffs throughout there relationship which works for me. Perhaps Eleven should start getting nervous. :-)
