(09) Pumpkin Assault [Open Commentlog]

Oct 20, 2011 17:46

[There is definitely something off about the plague doctor today. First, he was a bit suspicious of the pumpkins, though found them rather pleasant and curiously well-made. Then he thought he caught a glimpse of one of the old villagers faces on one, but quickly moved on and tried to block it out of his mind ( Read more... )

[Yep, just going to watch this bizarre display from a safe distance here, Malkus.]

You know you look really weird doing that, right, Bird Face?

[He could use your name, sure, but this is more amusing.]

That's weird.

[At least at Vertiline snow melted naturally.]

... How long have you been here?

[Since Malkus seems pretty used to this nonsense.]

I suppose I have not been keeping track of the days... I would assume a few months, by now? Long enough to get settled in, at any rate... How about yourself?

Two weeks, about.

[He sighs.]

And I still haven't got to swim in the lake yet.

Oh, well that isn't very long. E-Err...

[Oh man. The lake.]

Y-You might not wish to go into the lake. It is not the... best place to swim.

[He tilts his head at Malkus's hesitance.]

Why, because of the monster? You know, it might not even be a monster.

[Ezra may very well be able to communicate with it. Who knows.]

[He seems a bit shocked at Ezra's level of casualness when speaking about a terrifying beast.]

You think so? I suppose I may have considered that being possible, slightly... I haven't seen it, I mean. So I couldn't really judge. Though, from what I hear, it's quite menacing.

Lots of things are menacing. Doesn't mean they're all bad. Just scary.

Well... That's rather wise, but-... Hm. I just wouldn't want you to be potentially harmed by anything in the lake, is all. If you do end up swimming out there, and everything ends up alright, do let me know?

Alright for me doesn't necessarily mean alright for you.

[He smirks.]

That thing couldn't catch me if it wanted to, I'm fast and there's no way something that big can get close without me noticing. But I can try talking to it. See if it's fine with sharing the deeper waters.

This is true. Well I hope to know if you actually manage to communicate with something like that, all the same! So you're quite the swimmer, then? A rather good skill to have.

You're right. Swimming is pretty useful when you're born in a lake.

[He laughs.]

[There's a grin under the mask.]

I would hope so. You were born in a lake, then? I suppose I occasionally forget that you're not actually human, despite some similarities.

Yep. Born in a lake, lived in a lake. You were probably born inside in one of your weird houses, right? On one of your uncomfortable beds.

Reply

doctoral_bird October 24 2011, 05:59:10 UTC
Well it wasn't that uncomfortable, although I can't really remember on account of being an infant. Some beds are rather soft! I suppose they couldn't compare to the level of "soft" you'd find in actual water, though... Hm.

[Malkus begins to wonder what it would be like to be a fish and develops a vacant stare.]

Nothing compares to water.

[It's just so lovely and smooth and cool and-- hey, you're zoning out there. Ezra waves his hand in front of Malkus's... er... mask.]

You still alive?
