At first I thought that watch was the one Rose was wearing in New Earth. It's not, though, which is a shame. I kind of like the idea of him giving her watch. Awww.
I notice Eleven wears a watch as well, though I don't think Ten ever did. I am curious about the Doctor's watch. What timezone is it set to? Earth? Local? Does it just adjust itself to match whatever planet they land on because SCIENCE? What about when they're in the TARDIS or the vortex?
lol I think it's just that when you dress like a cartoon character who has a closet full of identical suits(/jumpers), removing one item looks super shocking.
I think Gallifreyans are touch telepaths, and that they intentionally wear all those layers as a form of literal armor, to insulate themselves from other people's thoughts. When the Doctor takes his coat off (regardless of which Doctor) it signifies that he is comfortable and trusts his companion. And so to see Nine with his sleeves pushed up like this is very intimate. :)
Makes it all the worse how Van Statten's people stripped him. Horrors!
I think it's just the over all casual, down to earth, "well if you're taking off your jacket, I might as well take off the rest for you to make you comfortable" look.
Sigh... I love Nine. Feelings so many Nine feels lately. Even with only one season, he just really stays with you always.
(I also love all incarnations of the Doctor, but Nine is/was my first doctor and that is a fixed point in time.)
