As a side note, this song is assigned as the ringtone for my husband on my mobile...

Mine too! :)

Does anyone else think that his glasses make him look sadder, more vulnerable than on Doomsday.Maybe it's just me...

I think it might be how the light kinda reflects off of them, making the tears welling up in up in his eyes look more pronounced.

YES. I watched Runaway Bride again last week, and the sad eyes were even SADDER than I remembered. Mere screencaps don't do them justice. And OMG that first verse.

On a related note - I always think of this episode when I murder spiders by washing them down the drain now...

I remember listening to the commentary for this ep, where they talked about what a huge decision it was to show the flashback and actually show what the Doctor is thinking and that he is in fact thinking of/remembering Rose in a romantic way. I love them for having the balls to actually include the flashback - without it, you know that we all would have been "Well of course he's thinking about Rose", but others would have been "No, he's thinking about Gallifrey/Susan//his pet turtle/anything other than Rose because HE DOESN'T LIKE HER IN THAT WAY". ;)

Romana? Honestly....RTD even puts in the Sarah Jane Adventures that before Ten regenerates he visits 'all' of his companions (not just the recent ones). Given all that, Rose was still the last one he visits before 'dying' because she is clearly the love of the Doctor's life. People don't have to like it. I watched this show all in a row without looking on boards and I was quite shocked to read all the Rose hate and denial going on. I don't know... maybe some of the fanboys are still in the mindsight of the classic show which (and I agree with Eccleston) was rather sexist and geared specifically to men (time period wise) with women as objects and assistants not equals. That's what I love about Rose. She's a true equal to the Doctor. He loves her because she makes him better. I can't say that about another character...

Too right, but now I have an overwhelming need to read a fic about his pet turtle or write one. (the Doctor yelling "Don't run away, Ms. Shelly) Sorry, that was a bit random, but I deal with angst through humor. ;)
