But they're BRILLIANT - made just a bit salty and spicy just to make sure people drink more! Humans come up with the most FANTASTIC things! Did you know in Italy they call them tartines? And these Vol au vent were just BRILLIANT!

Hello Martha.

I've had a look 'round your kitchen - there isn't anything remotely human in there to eat or drink except for tea. (And while I like tea, I can't live off it) If you think we're so brilliant, how about getting something I can eat?

I suppose this would be a good time to mention I'm not that bad of a cook?

I don't know how often you need to eat (because the Tardis won't translate any of the books that might tell me) but I prefer a three-meals-a-day plan, thanks.

I can get the food myself, you know, if you promise not to run off while I'm gone.

Had handfuls of them, did he? Wait until he starts going on about edible ball bearings.

Yes. People stared. My parents stared. He makes a good impression on the family, that's for sure.

...
I don't even want to know, do I?

It took my mum ages to get used to him. She still thinks he's 'a bit of a weirdo' even today.

Let's just say, when he mentions them and he will be prepared for a long, long, long speech on how they are the most ingenious thing mankind ever created.

My mum didn't stare that much, actually. Mainly Dad and Annalise.

... Great.
