After a fashion. For a time, I had to be someone else. That someone else became a real person, with a real life, and by coming back, I unmade him.

One of the more complicated adventures, so not a surprise. I was being hunted by a group of mercenaries called the Family of Blood. I needed to hide, but I couldn't just put on a different suit, I had to make myself human. John Smith had no memory of The Doctor, no special abilities, he was utterly and beautifully human. When the Family found him, I had to come back. Everything that had become of John Smith was destroyed.
