Un beta-ed but it is finally done.

Jun might just be taking slightly more joy in this situation than was merited, but really, we was sure that no one would blame him, least of not Ohno, who was actually helping with his little bit of mischief.

“I think that design A57 will be next, Toma-kun. If you do not mind.” And from the grin that pulled Toma’s lips into a smile he did not mind in the least.

Nino, Jun and Ohno were trying on tuxes for Ohno’s wedding, at least that was what they were supposed to be doing. If you asked Nino, who was giving a charmingly snarky running commentary of the entire this this was idol costume rejection depository explosion (and while it was not the rejected costumes that Nino was modeling, he was almost correct) what they were doing was torturing him.

“Oh-chan, you cannot be seriously considering this-this-“

“Work of art?” Jun added when Nino stumbled, trying to find something to amply describe the hot pink crushed velvet tux ensemble that he had on. Jun thought that the chartreus lining look surprisingly good on Nino, and had commented as such, but all Nino had done was snap back that Jun must have been blinded by the brightness of the costume and unable to see properly.

“This atrocity. Pink is not even one of the colors for the wedding.” Nino huffed disgruntled, crossing his arms over his chest and glaring at Ohno, who just smiled.

“Clothing can be works of art as well, Nino-chan.” Was his soft reply and Nino sighed.

“The next one is the best piece of art yet.” Toma added mildly, beginning to rummage through the racks of clothing to find the specified suit and Jun could hear the very audible sigh that Nino let out.

“So, short list this one?” Jun asked, and as Ohno nodded Jun could see the horror growing in Nino’s eyes, and he made sure to hide is own amusement.

“Why aren’t you trying on any of these?” Nino finally had the presence of mind to ask, though it had been three outfits previous that the entire thing started.

“Jun has tired on everything in the store, and I think he probably owns at least half of it. So has Ohno-kun for work, at various points. It is you that we need to get a fitting for.” Toma answered, his voice muffled by an explosion of pastel tulle and Jun could see Nino blanch at the outfit that Toma offered him next.

“How fitting, it matches the color scheme for the wedding.” Jun’s voice was mild and OHno smiled with a happy chuckle. “I am glad that we decided on ocean colors.” Jun could see Nino looking between them, and to the mass of fabric in his arms, and back to them,  and his eyes narrowed.

“Seriously?”

Ohno nodded.

“Really?”

Jun nodded.

“You have to be fucking kidding me.” Nino grumbled, stalking back to the changing room, and Jun hoped that he did not look back, because he was unable to hid his amusement this time.

“This should be the last, I think I know what cut will look best on him after this one.” Jun’s voice was low, and Ohno nodded.

“I didn’t realize that Jun’s mean streak was so playful.” Ohno’s voice was soft and Toma, who was standing beside them chuckled.

“This isn’t mean, Ohno. This is Jun flirting.” Was his reply, and Jun nodded, and then sighed when Ohno fixed a look on him.

“Don’t worry about it. I know its impossible, I already talked to Sho about it, and its not like this will make him hate me any more than he already does. But I will enjoy it while I ca-“ Jun stopped talking as Nino shuffled back out, scowling and glaring between Ohno and Jun.

“Now I know you are messing with me. There is no way that something this bad can possible be seriously considered for the wedding. Mao will kill us all.”

Jun nodded, unable to hide his smile as Nino scowled at them, and he could see the understanding dawning on Nino’s face.

“You have been fucking with me, haven’t you?” He demanded, looking between the two. “What satisfaction to do you get out of seeing me in this tissue paper factory explosion of an outfit?” He demanded, and Jun grinned slowly, moving around the room, making a slow circle around Nino.

“Oh, there is plenty of satisfaction. And this is the last one. I now know what we will be wearing for the wedding.” Jun looked at Nino one more time, top to bottom, and their gaze caught, Nino’s harsh and angry. “It does look good in you, Nino, despite the fact that it doesn’t look attractive at all.” Jun turned, and handed Toma a piece of paper. “These are the pieces that we will need, a warm grey, almost black. For now, just so he can see it, anything that you have in those cuts will work.” Jun requested and Toma nodded, moving into the back of the store to pull the pieces that were needed. Jun could see that Nino was watching him, the mirrors in the room making it impossible to hide that fact, and he could see what he thought was a blush on the other man’s face, but it was possible that he was wrong.

“How can you get that from this?” Nino demanded and it was Ohno who answered, shuffling over to bury his head in Nino’s shoulder, pulling him into a hug for a moment,

"Jun was looking at form and shape. Trust me on this one. It is the reason that he is going with Mao-chan for the dresses as well. Nino focuses on the big picture, like the colors and the overall appearance, but doesn’t see the finer details of the shape and cut.” Ohno’s voice was soft, and Jun was not sure that he was supposed to be listening. Thankfully he was saved when Toma called him over, asking what color the vest, and the shirt were going to be, and after settling the details Toma disappeared again. Nino and Ohno were still standing together, locked in conversation, but the anger it seemed was gone, left only with resignation and what Jun thought might be defeat. Which was not at all what he wanted. He did not want to break the other man. His spirit was something that drew Jun to him.

“Ninomiya-san, this play please.” Toma called him over and Nino moved away with one last glare at Jun, pausing in front of the dressing room.

“If you are messing with me again, MatsuJun, you will regret it.”

“I wouldn’t dream of messing with you, Nino-chan. I gather that you wouldn’t really enjoy it. You seem more bark than bite.” Was Jun’s reply, snark coated in sweetness, and now he was sure that Nino was blushing, and if Ohno’s chuckle beside Jun was any indication the other man saw it as well.

“I don’t think he hates you Jun, I just think he doesn’t know what to do with you, especially with how badly be botched things in the beginning.” Ohno’s words were meant for Jun’s ears, but it felt as if they carried through the entire store. Jun did not answer, and he knew that Ohno did not expect him too.

When Nino emerged a few minutes later, Jun had to admit that he had done an amazing job picking out the tux, though to be fair he was almost sure that Nino could make anything look good. Jun had settled on tightly fitting tux pants, with a satin stripe down the side, with a long fitted coat, flaring out slightly over the hips and hitting the mid thigh. Under that was a vest, a deep blue, and a crisp white shirt, as well as a equally crisp white cravat. Jun had almost went with proper English riding boots, as well, but Nino did not have the legs and form to pull those off.

“Nino looks good.” Ohno smiled, and Nino nodded.

“I hate to admit it but this does look good. I am still not sure how the hell you managed-“ He stopped as he noticed Jun smiling.

“Each of these pieces had shape and cuts in the previous outfits. I was just trying to see what looked goon on your shape wise.” Jun looked to Nino. “You look good, very good. It would be better if your hair isn’t quite so scruffy for the wedding. Makes you look less put together.” Jun’s statement was matter of fact and he looked to Toma, trying to ignore the intensity of Nino’s gaze on him. “We will need one for Ninimiya-san, one for myself, and you already know what Satsohi-kun wants, yes?” Toma nodded, pulling out a order sheet and marking down what Jun wanted with sure movements. Toma know Jun’s measurements, so there was no need for him to try anything on, and the same went for Ohno.

Jun caught Nino’s gaze in the mirror, and the other man was studying him. It was a bit unnerving.

“Satoshi-kun, buying again, or just renting this time?” Jun tore his gaze away, and looked to Ohno over his shoulder and Ohno just shrugged, and both Jun and Toma chuckled.

“You do that every time Ohno-kun. This is how you end up paying for all of the tuxes.” Toma commented and Ohno just chuckled in reply.

“I wear them to art shows and things, so it isn’t like it is a bad investment.  And Toma-kun makes good things. It is sometimes like wearing art, though Nino-chan is in more of that today than I ever will be.” Jun could see Ohno’s eyes twinkling, and he could not help but laugh as Nino grumbled and stomped off to change, mumbling about stupid old men, and stupid diva designers and their practical jokes.

When Jun caught Ohno’s gaze, Ohno just smiled at him, his eyes crinkling at the corners. Jun did not have to say thank you for helping out, and breaking the tension, since Ohno knew what he had done, and Jun was glad. He was not where he stood with Nino yet, and a bit more of that mouth, and that brattiness, and those comments, and a bit more of Nino in that suit and Nino would be been pressed back up against the mirror, silenced with a kiss, and Jun knew that one would not end well.

When Ohno and Nino were gone, just Jun and Toma left to arrange the final details, Toma pressed a glass of something into his hands with a soft, ‘drink this’ and Jun did not hesitate to slam back whatever it was. Toma had always known him well.

He refrained from commenting on Jun’s newest love interest, or the odd chemistry going on between them, instead offered to take Jun out for a night of drinks, because, ‘You obviously need it. Sho had already agreed to meet us. He wants to hear how operation dress up Nino went anyways’ and Jun knew that he would not have to fill Toma in on the history, since Sho had already told him. He had such a good business partner, it was a shame that things had not worked out between them, they really did suit in a lot of ways.

~~~~~~~~~~
“And then he had the audacity to tell me that I looked good, if not for the scruffy hair.” Nino grumbled, and no one in the room could actually stop from chuckling at him. They had a wedding planning update meeting that turned into a drinking at Niji. Jun had other obligations and was not sure if he would be able to come by at all, and Nino had enough to drink that he did not care if he was making a fool of himself in from of Sho, he needed to vent to someone, though is audience was less than enthusiastic.
“Nino did look oddly charming though. It is a shame we did not get photos.” Ohno agreed, taking the tequila shot that Mao offered him with a smile.
“You know, Nino-chan, it might work better if you didn’t try and push MatsuJun quite so far. He wont realize that you are flirting with him, and that will make things harder.” Aiba mused thoughtfully, looking at his beer, and Nino choked in the sip of his own that he had been taking.
“I am not flirting with him. There is no way in hell this is flirting.” Nino insisted and Aiba just shook his head, looking to Sho with a wide smile.
“Nino has never been very good at flirting. Once, when we were younger, he though that pulling on a girls hair was a good way to get her to realize that he liked her. It didn’t end well.”
“I would not imagine that it would.” Sho said mildly and Aiba nodded.
“Nor does hiding video games.” Mao added.
“Or teasing to the point that they cry, though that one was overly sensitive. Nino was just being his normal charming self.” Ohno added and Nino just stared at the three.
“Why is everyone against me?” He moaned, burning his head in his hands on the table and Aiba smiled widely in return.
“We are not against you. We just want Nino-chan to be happy. And messing things up with MatsuJun more than you already have won't actually help any. So flirt with him properly. It sounds like he has been flirting with you.” Aiba commented and Sho nodded, and Nino could not help but stare at him in disbelief.
“He what?”
“Jun is flirting, intentionally.” Was the level reply.
“But why? I am not flirting with him. I am just informing him of my opinion on things.” Nino argued, finishing his beer and reaching for another and Sho just smiled, leaning across the table towards him.
“Then why is it you never level any of those insults and comments at me. I am his partner after all?” Nino just stared at Sho and could not come up with an answer. Sho was right, his focus was pretty much always Jun.
“But I am insulting him.” Nino insisted and Sho nodded.
“That kind of verbal sparring is a turn on for him. It is one of the reasons that we broke up. I didn’t want that kind of conflict in a relationship on a regular basis.” Sho made it a statement, but Nino’s shrieked 'what', and Aiba’s squeal of excitement were enough to make him smile at Ohno.
“So you didn’t tell them about that part, Satoshi-kun?” He asked and Ohno chuckled.
“It was a need to know piece of information, and it didn’t seem like they needed to know. And its not my history to tell.” Ohno looked to Sho, who nodded and turned back to Nino.
“Trust me, he is flirting with you, and whether you admit it or not you are flirting with him. Now, he is my best friend and I would appreciate it if you would refrain from leading him on.” Sho’s voice was mild, but everyone in the room was nodding in agreement and Nino could not take it anymore.
Jun had dated Sho. For some reason this bothered him.
Jun was flirting with him. This also bothered him. How had he not noticed? He did not want him to, he was sure.
And he was not flirting with Jun. There was no reason too. None at all.
“I am not leading him on.” Nino grumbled and stood, moving towards the door after grabbing his keys off of the table. “I am going home, this is not fun any more.” Nino pushed the door open and stopped, looking back at his friends who were watching him with what he knew was amusement. “And for the record there is no way in hell that I would ever flirt with that diva.” Nino called before turning to leave, but instead of moving out the door he ran straight into something.
Looking up slowly, though he did not need to, as the chuckle, and the arm around his waist that held him up was hint enough.
“I am not sure if I should be relieved or not. But there is a lot to worry about with this wedding, so it’s probably better that way.” Jun’s voice was low in Nino’s ear and he did not step away. “Besides, you are a little high maintenance for my taste.”
“High maintenance?” Nino yelled, standing in the doorway as Jun just nodded and moved inside, and Nino was left to started after him for a moment before stomping off.
He was not high maintenance. At all. Where the hell did Jun get off calling him that?
But Nino, even in his anger, could not help but think how nice it had been for that moment to be held by Jun. An obvious sign of his level of intoxication. That was the only reason that his cheeks were still warm, and he could not shake the memory of the brief contact, of Jun’s voice in his ear, low and amused. It was obviously the beer. Nothing else could explain it.
Though it was still oddly sweet to get a message on his phone later from Jun, saying that he hoped that he was not the reason that Nino had left, and to be careful.
~~~~~~

After that encounter it was not as if Jun was avoiding Nino, it was just that wedding season was in full swing, and since Jun took care of most things on the front end of their business, Sho was left ot manage the back end, and the meetings with Ohno, Mao, Nino and Aiba. Even though he was best man Jun should have been planning Ohno a bachelor party, but he was feeling generous one day (Sho said that he was over work, under coffeed and not sleeping enough but Jun preferred generous) and he messaged Nino, letting him plan the party. He had expected that Nino would ask them when they were free, as opposed to just sending out an invitation for a night of drinking, dancing and karaoke at an all you can drink karaoke place near Ohno’s place. It was cheap, but it was very much Ohno, and as Jun looked at the invitation, he was glad the store was closed, as he threw the invitation down on the front desk with a sigh.

“Fucking brat.” He muttered with no heat, but it was enough to bring over Sho, who examined the discarded invitation with a frown. It was scheduled for five days before the wedding, on a Monday night.

“I am not sure that either of us can go to this, Jun.” He looked to Jun, who nodded and sighed.

“I will send out regrets to Ohno. He just sent us the redone design for this, since we should have had it printed already."

Sho nodded. “There is no way that Nino could have known that we were going to be in Korea for my sisters wedding that weekend." Mai had met someone whe she was studying abroad in college, and the pair were getting married in Seoul the following week. Jun had Sho had been a bit stressed coordinating everything for the wedding in Seoul, as well as the finishing touches on Ohno and Mao’s wedding, and Jun had been looking forward to the bachelor party. But he was the one who let Nino plan it, and so he had no reason to be disappointed.

Ohno took the news well, with a soft smile and an “I knew something was going on that weekend, I just could not remember what.” And Ohno said that he would pass along their regrets to Nino, but it was obvious that he had not done a very complete job of that then Nino slipped into the shop one night after the last customer left.

“Is my bachelor party not good enough for the Marvelous Designs duo?” His voice was sharp, and Jun drew in a deep breath.

“Not at all, we would love to attend, but we will both be out of the country at a wedding.” Jun turned to look at Nino, who was leaning against the door frame, his arms crossed over his chest.

“A wedding?” Jun could hear the skepticism in his voice and it was Sho who answered.

“My sister is getting married. We reminded Saotshi-kun that we would be there still, but the date had already been set and the invitations out.” Sho’s voice was mild. “As much as I love Satoshi-kun, I am not missing my sisters wedding for a karaoke night.” Sho could see Nino’s eyes narrow.

“There is nothing wrong with karaoke night. Oh-chan loves it.”

“There isn’t. And he does.” Jun agreed, shouldering his bag, and passing Sho his own belongings. “We, however, put a lot of work into this wedding, and it is out first international wedding, and Sho's sister's wedding, and will not be missing it.”

“You are the best man, you already passed the responsibility off on me, now you wont even show up?” Nio taunted and Jun shook his head.

“I felt bad that we were doing so much before the wedding, and you and Aiba were getting the reception and the catering. I thought this would be something you would enjoy. I was wrong." Jun looked to Nino. "Satoshi already gave his blessing, and doesn’t need me at a party to know that I care about him, and with the best for him and Mao. I don't know why it matters to you."

"You should be there." Nino insisted and Jun sighed, before snapping.

"If you had actually inquired as to anyone’s availability instead of picking a day that worked for you we wouldn’t be having this discussion.”

“I-“ Nino started but took a deep breath, and Jun could tell that the other was angry, but Jun knew that he had a legitimate point. “Whatever, we don’t need you there to have fun, and I know that he says it is fine, but I also know that he would want you there.” Nino spun and moved to open the door, and Jun was surprised when it was Sho who answered with a mild “Then reschedule it, if his happiness means that much to you, but your previous behavior in this wedding planning would indicate that making us, or just Jun look bad is more important to you than what your cousin or her fiancé wants.”

“Sho-kun, that was uncalled for.” Jun scolded lightly, his gaze intent on Nino, and he offered the other a warm smile. “We will see you at the rehearsal. Please, take good care of Satoshi.”

“As if I would do anything else.” Nino snapped and left the store in a huff, and Jun turned to look at Sho, his eyes narrowing.

“What was that about?” Sho usually left the quarrels with Nino to Jun and the other just sighed.

“We were all talking about it the other night about it, and no one can really figure out why Nino acts like this to you.”

“Tonight was pleasant though.” Jun commented back and Sho nodded.

“But for how long?  I am tired of watching Nino blame you for things that are not your fault, and I don’t like watching him hurt you.”

“I am fine.” Jun argued but Sho just shook his head, and Jun knew that Sho knew better. As much as Jun liked the verbal sparring, it would be nice to have a normal conversation with Nino every once in a while as well. He had tried, after their encounter at Niji that night, but he was always meet with hostility and mocking comments from Nino when they had been in contact via text or over the phone, so Jun had once again given up.  He had been more upfront that he should have been considering Nino’s public dislike for him, and he had gotten nothing but hostility and snark back. The man was just not interested, despite what the others seemed to think.

“Whatever agenda he had against you, it has gone on long enough. The wedding is next week, its not like we will back out and let him and Aiba attempt to salvage things. But you do not deserve this. Snark and playful banter and flirtation is one thing, this is something else.”

Sho was right, he was always right, but it didn’t make it any easier to handle, not when Aiba sent him a message later letting him know that Nino was complaining about Jun again, and him being too good to come to the party, but Aiba knew that could not be true, and Aiba was very apologetic when he found out that Jun and Sho would be out of town, as well as disappointed, but family comes first. It was harder still when Ohno called and apologized for not thinking ahead enough to know that Nino would come over and try to start trouble. “Though this was not very like Nino.” Mao had added in the background of the conversation, and Jun’s bitter reply had been met with silence.

“It might not be normal Nino, but it is normal Nino with me.”

~~~~~~~~
Which brought them to the rehearsal. Aiba and Ohno had sent random pictures and messaged during the karaoke, and it was as if they were there, though Nino seemed to be no less irritated with them now at the rehearsal than he was when Sho had scolded him on his behavior. The venue was nowhere near ready for the wedding, and it still had decorations and things for a wedding held there the previous day. Jun had made arrangements with that wedding planner to have everything cleared out right after the rehearsal, as he had a lot to do before he would be satisfied with the set up. The planner was waiting at a coffee shop across the street, to give them time to rehearse, but it looked like Nino and Aiba had not been filled in on the fact that these were not Mao’s wedding decorations, as they where looking at the tables and the décor and whispering furiously to themselves.
To his credit Nino managed to keep his mouth shut about the left over decorations during the actual rehearsal and Jun hoped that the rest of the evening would be so pleasant. He knew that Nino and Aiba had a long night ahead of them cooking, since it was a morning wedding, and the reception would be around lunch time, but this was Nino and it was Jun, and he should have known better.
As soon as the rehersal was over and Mao was chatting with Ohno, Aiba and Sho about something that Jun could not hear, Nino sidled over to Jun, a frown pulling at his lips.
“This is what you spent all that time working on decorations for? I am sure that a school child could do better than this, Jun-pon.” Nino’s voice was sharp and Jun took in a deep breath before relpying.
“These are the decorations for the wedding that was here before our rehearsal.”
Nino nodded in understanding. “Mao deserved better than this, though I would not put it past you to come up with something just as revolting.”
“Revolting?”
Nino nodded. “I have seen pictures of you work, I did research after all, to make sure that I could trust things for Mao’s wedding with you.”
“It doesn’t matter if you can, it matters if she can.” Jun snapped back, shifting closer to Nino, his voice low in anger and Nino waved a hand, continuing on like Jun had not spoken.
“And I will admit nothing that you do is to my taste, but it is very fitting of your type, I suppose.”
“Type?” Jun asked and Nino ignored him.
“It’s very flashy, gaudy, almost tacky, too much sparkle, not enough class, and certainly overpriced. I don’t see why-“ Nino stopped as Jun stepped closer still, his voice low and Nino stepped back, reflexively.
“You seem to be suffering under the misconception that anything that you think of want matters here, Ninomiya.” Jun stepped closer still, and he was aware that they were slowly making their way towards the others, with each step closer that Jun took Nino took one back.
“Misconception?” Nino repeated, and Jun nodded.
“I tried being professional, despite the fact that you have been anything but the entire time. I tried to be nice, since you are Mao’s cousin, but I am sick and tired of dealing with you and your mouth. Mao and Ohno are happy with what I have done, it doesn’t fucking matter what you want, and you have no right to call anything that I do-“ With each word Jun moved closer still, and he was vaguely aware of Sho moving towards them quickly as Nino was pushed back against a table, no where else to retreat, his eyes wide as he watched Jun.
“You have no fucking right to be such a mouthy obnoxious brat with no regard for the feelings of anyone else in this-“ Jun stopped as Sho grabbed his arm, and pulled him away from Nino, and Jun could see that Nino was bent back over the table, to the point that he was nearly lying across it, and Mao and Ohno stood nearby watching with wide eyes.
“What did you do this time?” Was what Sho asked and Nino shook his head, and so Jun snapped a reply. “He crossed a line.”
Jun did not resist when Sho dragged him away by the arm, his grip tight enough to hurt, Jun just watched the others crowding about Nino, and Aiba smacking Nino upside the head. Jun was surprised when Sho shoved him against the wall of the truck that held all the decorations for the wedding, his weight on Jun’s shoulders, pinning him in place.
“What was that about?” Sho leaned in close, his body pressed against Jun’s and Jun didn’t answer, just shook his head. “Jun… what. Was. That. About.” Sho’s voice was low, almost angry, and one of his hands moved to grab Jun’s shirt, pulling him closer, their cheeks resting against one another and Sho’s voice was a low whisper in his ear. “This is what you want, isn’t it. This is what you wanted to do to him, to get him to shut up and listen. I could see it in your eyes. I know you, Jun. I could kiss you now, and you wouldn’t resist, would you?” Sho leaned in closer still, and was not surprised when Jun shoved him hard, switching their positions to Jun had Sho shoved against the truck, shifting so he stood between Sho’s legs, his body pressed against Sho’s, one hand across his chest, pressing him in place, the other bracing himself on the side of the truck.
“So what if it was?” Jun snapped back, and Sho leaned forward, placing his forehead against Jun’s.
“Then I am glad I pulled you away. You don’t want him, not like that.” Sho squirmed to his arms pulled Jun close into a hug, and he was pleased that he could feel Jun sad against him, exhausted.
“He said that the tacky, gaudy decorations fit a person like me, and I just snapped, I couldn’t take it anymore.”  Jun’s voice was soft, and Sho growled, his grip around Jun tightening.
“That little shit.” He paused, his voice softening. “After tomorrow, you wont have to see him, and you know how wedding days go for you. You wont have time to see him. I promise.”
Jun nodded, stepping back and was surprised when Sho leaned up and placed a brief kiss on his lips. “We can do this.”
“Of course we can.” Jun replied, and was startled when he turned to see Nino standing a ways away, staring at them in surprise. “I will call and have all this taken away, we have a long night of set up, but the crews should get here before that.” Jun pulled out his cell. “You  are still picking up Satoshi in the morning and bringing him?”
“I thought that was only if you were not done here?” Sho asked and Jun sighed.
“I don’t think that I will be. I will also need you to take Shun around tonight, so he can get pictures of the set up here, and with Aiba. I think it is something that Mao would like.”
Sho nodded and he did not look at Nino as they walked by.
“I remember that we talked about that. I will call him now and see when he wishes to start.”
“I don’t want to see anyone here until tomorrow morning. So all of you, go.” Jun called out, his voice loud and he made a motion with one hand, dialing on his phone with the other.
One more day, and it would be over.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Nino realized, as Jun had him bent backwards over the table, wedding decorations scatting around him that perhaps he had finally pushed things a little bit too far. He was not even completely aware of what Jun was actually saying, though he knew that it was a scolding, and the general gist of which was that Jun did not give a fuck what Nino said so just shut up and do his job. What Nino was surprisingly captivated by (perhaps he should have listen to Oh-chan and Aiba when they said that he had a bit of a crush on Jun (and perhaps e really should work on his flirtation technique, since righteous anger was not really the response that anyone wanted, ever)) was the proximity of Jun’s face to his, the passion in his eyes, and his lips, dotted by moles that Nino had only just then noticed.

But Jun was also terrifying at the moment, moving closer and closer still, and Nino’s breath of relief when Sho pulled Jun off of him was audible.

“What did you do this time?” Was what Sho asked and Nino shook his head, still unable to answer, the loss of Jun’s proximity, and the anger that he could still see there unsettling.

It was Jun who snapped a reply. “He crossed a line.” And with that Sho was dragging Jun off somewhere, and Nino did not even have the chance to defend himself (though how could he really) when Aiba was hitting him hard across the head, telling him that he needed to be nice to MatsuJun, and that this childish feud had gone on along enough, and Mao did not have to say anything to him at all, her eyes said everything.

“I will go apologize.” Nino spoke softy as he moved away from the table, moving the general direction that Sho and Jun had disappeared to. He did owe Jun, and Sho, and apology, but Jun more than anything else.

It was never have supposed to have gone so far. To begin with Nino had been angry that Jun was even involved. It had quickly shifted to jealousy, that Jun could offer Mao a wedding that Nino never could, and he showed it week and after week. Jun had, until that point at least, been nothing but nice and classy when Nino had been a terror and he did not deserve it. The bachelor party had been the last straw, Nino’s jealousy and envy getting the best of him when Jun and Sho had to bow out and Ohno and Mao were perfectly fine with that. Nino had put a lot of work into finding something that he thought they would all enjoy, into trying to show that he was just as good as Jun but it had backfired, badly. They had been right that he should have checked their schedules for their availability, but he had figured erroneously, that they would be able to make time in their schedules.

He would apologize as soon as he fou-

Nino blinked, gaping at the scene in front of him. Jun had Sho pressed back against a truck, their bodies firmly pressed together and as Jun stepped back Sho stepped forward pressing a kiss to Jun’s lips.

A kiss.

Nino could feel his stomach tighten, his eyes narrowing, and all he could do was continue to stare as they walked by. He could see that Jun was startled, but Sho had obviously noticed him.

What was he playing at?

Neither of them, however, paid him any mind as they walked by, and Nino did not have a chance to apologize.

~~~~~~~~~~
Nino was already tired, but at least he had gotten some sleep. After rehearsal Nino and Aiba had begun the preparations for the wedding meal. When Sho brought Shun by that night to take some pictures, he had pulled the other man aside, though he could see that Sho was regarding him with well deserved wariness.
“I owe you an apology.” Nino cut to the chase, looking at Sho with a steady gaze and the other man nodded in agreement.
“I am not the only one.”
“Nor are you the one most deserving of an apology. I should not have let my jealousy get the better of me. It is not that Marvelous Designs is better, it is different and…” Nino trailed off, flashing the camera a smile and Shun moved over to take a picture of them, and he was surprised to feel Sho slide an arm around his waist and pose for the camera as well.
“And?” Sho continued when Shun had moved away, to take more pictures of the cupcake wedding cake that was waiting for Aiba to assemble at the wedding in the morning.
“Are you and Jun dating each other again?” Nino was not sure why he asked, but it appeared when Sho chuckled, and smiled that Nino had his answer, and the coil in his stomach from earlier, the one that appeared when he saw them kiss just tightened.
“Ask him yourself. You might be surprised. But I would apologize first.”  Was the only answer that Sho would give, and he was gone moments later, taking Shun to the reception site to get some pictures of Jun and the set up crew’s work in progress.
So Nino had stayed and helped Aiba prep everything, and joined him in the morning to start the cooking and transportation prep. The only thing that he needed to do in the morning was make sure the PA system was working for the music for the reception, but the system was getting delivered to the site, so he would set it up when they arrived. He just hoped that he would have a chance to talk to Jun, and offer his apologies. He had already apologized to Sho, Aiba (who had just hugged him, laughed and said it was about time that Nino realized that he liked Jun but he really really needed to work on his technique, and this time Nino did not deny it) and Mao and Ohno had accepted the apology over the phone, and Mao did threaten his life and his livelihood and his ability to reproduce if he did anything tomorrow to ruin her wedding, and Ohno had just laughed, and assured her that Nino-chan loved her too much to ruin her wedding.
Which was true.
As they arrived Nino could see rows of chairs set up, each pristine white, draped with a blue ribbon, the ends perfectly spiral curled. Nino’s breath caught in his throat. When he saw the flower petals strewn down the walkway, and the gauze material and ribbons that decorated the pavilion that Ohno and Mao would be married in Nino realized that he owed Jun a significant apology.  But it was when he saw the reception tent, with the tables covered in deep blue table cloths, the chairs covered in while slip covers with blue ribbons tied around them, floral central pieces popping in a rainbow of colors, and the plates that Ohno had designed waiting for the guests to arrive Nino could not breath. Looking around he could see paper lanterns and small white lights running along the frame of the tent, and when he could finally speak, he looked around until he caught Jun’s eyes, who while he was putting the finishing touches on the head table watched Nino apprehensively.
“It is beautiful.”
Nino was sure that he could see relief on Jun’s face, but he was too far away to tell for sure, and Nino was moving again, pushing the food carts across into the area that was designated as the kitchen prep area.
Nino owed Jun far more than an apology, and as he stopped, leaning heavily against the food cart Aiba pulled him into a hug, his arm tight around Nino’s shoulder.
“I think Mao will be pleased, don’t you?”
“I know she will be.” Was all that Nino could answer.
The rest of the morning passed in a rush, with the food preparations, and then having to leave the site to go get changed and showered, and there was not a of time for apologies as they were rushed around, and pictures taken as they were getting ready.
The ceremony was beautiful, though Nino could not recall much of it. It was odd to be part of the wedding party, when he was usually behind the scenes, watching and waiting and making sure that everything ran to perfection, and from the way that Jun was fidgeting, since Nino was watching him, Nino wondered if he felt the same way. Jun could not stand still, shifting weight from foot to foot,  glancing around at everything without turning his head as the wedding progressed, checking to make sure everything was ready and set, even though Sho was bustling around in the background making sure that he fixed all the place cards that the sudden gusts of wind scattered, but Nino was certain that Jun was paying attention to that as well.
After the ceremony was the pictures, and Shun kept putting Jun and himself in close proximity, despite how far they were standing from each other during the down times, and that fact that Jun would not look at Nino.
If Nino could just catch his gaze, he could apologize, but Jun was not being that cooperative, and Nino did not blame him in the least.
But if Nino did not get a chance to talk to Jun at the wedding, he was not sure when he would be able to. He would not have a real reason to go to Marvelous Designs, and while it would probably see Jun again it was not guaranteed.
Except when pictures were over and the reception started it was Nino and Aiba’s turn to shine, and shine they did. While there were plenty of comments about the décor (and there should be, Jun and Sho did an amazing job, there were just as many about the food and he could see toes tapping to the music. It was a success, but the one person that was not there was Jun. Nino stood near the entrance for the kitchen area catching is breath, scanning the area for Jun, but he could not see the other man.
And he had not since the ceremony had ended. It was not that Nino was looking for him, just that he was interested in where the other was.
“You still have an extra plate of food?” Nino was startled to hear Sho’s voice from behind him and Nino nodded moving to prepare a plate.
“He is fine. He always disappears like this.” Sho’s voice was soft.
“He didn’t get any sleep last night, trying to make sure that everything was perfect. He just stepped out to take a break, he will be back for his speech, and he wont ruin your reception.”
Nino winced at the sharpness in Sho’s voice and Nino shook his head.
“I just wanted to apologize. But it can wait. Let him take as much time as he needs, I can stall as long as necessary.”
“There wont be a need, but thank you.” Sho took the plate and slipped out the back of the tent, and Nino forced his attention back to the matter at hand, making sure that the small cake that Mao and Ohno would be cutting for their pictures (and knowing Mao the cake that she would be shoving into Ohno’s face) was ready to go.
And when he did see Jun and Sho, Jun was leaning against Sho, his head on his shoulder, and the food was untouched beside them. Sho did not even notice him peaking in on them, a hand running though Jun’s hair, and Nino could not help but wonder what the hell Sho was playing at.
He had said that he and Jun had dated, not that they were dating, and until the last few days Sho had never shown any kind of possessiveness towards Jun.
Nino was honest enough with himself to admit that he didn’t like it.
Jun did make an appearance, and made a speech, but Nino and Aiba were to busy passing out cake to notice, though he was aware that both Ohno and Mao cried, and Aiba was crying, and Sho was sniffling, but in order to not stare at Jun, and interrupt things, Nino had to focus on his work, and not Jun. Which was a lot harder than one would think, now that he admitted to himself that he wanted to focus on Jun.
Nino did not like being ignored.
He certainly didn’t like being ignored by Jun of all people.
Admittedly it was well deserved, as Aiba and Sho and Ohno and Mao and even Jun had pointed out, but still. He didn’t like it. At all.
And then the wedding was over, and the guests were gone, and Mao and Ohno had disappeared a while ago, Nino was not sure where.
What he did know, was that there was a tent full of wedding decorations and his target was in sight.
Nino did not know when Jun had changed, but he was in jeans and a shirt, clearly exhausted as his step lacked its usual spring, but all that Nino cared about was that he was there, and he was alone and it was his chance.
Placing the plate he had been clearing on a nearby table Nino walked over to Jun, and he could see the other stiffen as he approached.
“It was beautiful, I have never seen its like.” Nino spoke, leaning against the table across from the one that Jun was tearing down and the other nodded, but didn’t look to him.
“I am glad that it was up to your standards.” Was all that he said, his words terse, and Nino sighed to himself. This would be harder than he thought.
“That was never any question of that, MatsuJun.” Nino kept all antagonism from his voice, and still Jun seemed unwilling to play ball.
“That was not the impression that I had gotten from every other of our interactions.” His voice was brisk and Nino nodded.
“I owe you an apology, though I know that it not enough to actually fix the damage that I caused.” Nino shrugged as Jun’s gaze finally snapped to him, eyes narrowed.
“What the hell are you playing at.  You made it quite clear that you thought I was tacky, and revolting, and anything that I touched was worse than-“ Jun trailed off searching for a word and Nino shook his head.
“The wedding was perfect.” Nino paused before adding. “You were perfect.”  He could see Jun’s eyes open, startled and the other snapped.
“What the hell are you playing at?” He repeated, this time as a question with less force, though a blush was detectible on his cheeks and Nino hoped that he would be able to see more of that. A startled embarrassed Jun was - adorable.
“I am sorry, and trying to make it up to you.” Nino smirked, pushing off the table and stepping closer.
“By attempting to be charming?” Jun replied and Nino nodded.
“I am charming.” Nino insisted and Jun laughed. Laughed.
“About as charming as a rock.” Was the quick reply, though Nino was pleased to see a playful light in his eye, the same one that he had seen that night at Niji. He had just not known what it was then.
“I am quite confident that I could charm your socks off.” Nino stepped closer still, hovering just in front of Jun and the other shook his head, smirking.
“I am not wearing socks, so that would be quite impossible.” Jun retorted and glancing down he could see that the other was indeed in sandals.
“I guess I can shoot for something more…ambitious. What are the odds of charming your pants off?” Nino stepped closer still, until he was pressed up against Jun, and he yelped in surprise as Jun spun them around and pinned him to the table.
“Don't think that I will let yo off that easy, Nino, but I have been wanting to do that for a while.” Was the first thing that Nino heard, as the blood rushed to his head, and other places as Jun pressed against him, hips to hips, arms pinned, and chest pressed firmly against his. He was very much aware of the heat of Jun’s body against his own, the muscles and firmness there, and he knew that it was his turn to blush.
“Is it as good as you hoped?” Nino could not help but ask and he was certain that his voice shook a little and it was Jun’s turn to smirk down at him.
“That will depend a lot on you, Nino. But so far, I am not unsatisfied.” Jun leaned closer, and Nino knew that the other was giving him time to move away if he wanted, but he craned his neck up, meeting Jun’s lips in a kiss.
There was still a lot of ground to cover, and a lot of apologies to make, and he did not want to start things by getting into Jun’s pants, though that thought was appealing. Very appealing, a thought that Jun seemed to share as he shifted grinding his hips down against Nino, and he began rethinking the get into Jun’s pants reluctance.
Jun jumped away startled, as cheering erupted through the tent, and Nino turned to glare at Aiba, Sho, Mao and Ohno, who were cheering and clapping and watching them with expression that could only be called amused.
“It is about time.” Was all that Sho said with a smile, before he dragged Aiba and the others off to clean up the kitchen and Nino dragged Jun back down for another kiss.
It was about time indeed.
