"We have cats, Alex," she informs the toddler, while Doc is opening the door.

If she knows Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, they'll make a fuss over the boy, and she doesn't want him to be startled.

"They're nice cats; if you're gentle, they'll let y'pet 'em."

She leads him into the room and closes the door, giving Doc time to get everything situated before loosening her hold on Alex's hand, in case he wants to explore on his own.

Alex does explore the room.

Door clicks TV and DVD player cart like Granny has desk and chair one hair short and blonde next to the wall gun belt going up into the closet two pairs of trousers visible as the door opens smells slightly of horses and cats and two kittens coming over...

"Eeee!" He squeals excitedly, bounces and flaps his hands at the sight of the kittens coming over. And then, because he knows the cats at home don't appreciate him doing that, he switches to crawling and approaches them. He makes quite convincing cat noises at them.

The cats are wary at first, as this is a new person (who is a small person) and someone they are not used to. Being street cats, their mother taught them well -- but Doc and Kate have broken these habits by spoiling the hell out of them, so they assume that Alex will do the same.

Roz takes the lead in Investigation 101, with Goldie lagging behind.

Alex makes a purring sound, and reaches out towards Roz, who will get glomped if he doesn't protest.
