I'm getting a bit fed up with all of this now...took me FIVE hours to go 28 miles on Friday in order to get home, including the scariest thing I have ever had to do in a car, namely drive round what used to be a roundabout, but was doing a good impression of a washing machine on full spin cycle by ( Read more... )

This is one of those times where I love living in the north, where the country is hilly and high above the waterline. The flatlands in the south are completely flooded here as well. An elderly woman drowned in her car.

Is your house okay at least? The worst part is when sewage starts coming out of the toilets...

If we flood, the end will be pretty much nigh! Paul cleared the outside gutters yesterday and we're keeping the drains in the road outside as clear as we can. No sewage issues at present...

Perhaps I need to plan the October trip by boat?!

My goodness, filling the bathtub with clean water is something you do HERE during snowstorms when we have no power for the well. Should I be assuming that your national health and safety authorities are working on how they're going to supply your region with safe water?

Mmm, Cumbria by boat would be very scenic...*eek*

I've got the local radio on and they're setting up water dispense points around us. We're going to get a 25 litre water container this morning. Fortunately, I stocked up on bottled water when I shopped on Monday.

Just so long as we can boil the kettle, I can get through anything!

Oh no! Everything getting soggy is one thing, but when the water stops, that's just down right scary.
I hope things sort themselves out (ie dry up) soon...=(

Oh crikey, me too. It's something you take so much for granted, and we're surrounded by the damn stuff, and yet...

And, just to add insult to injury, it's raining again...

It is a bit scary. We walked down to the flooded bit of Glos yesterday afternoon, and it's just amazing. Hubby took some good piccies, which will be put up later on (if the power stays with us).

And I have every intention of being careful. That's why I'm at home and not at work!

I'm just glad I don't live in Tewkesbury anymore, my old house must be quite flooded out by now. Still, probably the next best thing (after napalm) that could have happened to it...!

I think I might just put LoTR on. Can't do anything else. All my bunnies are whinging about having water-logged ears and soggy tails and are refusing to play nicely :(
