What cracks me up about Gardner Fox`s Silver Age stories is that there is a big emphasis on SCIENCE, yet page after page has things happening that just wouldn`t work. But as an eleven year old, you just bought the explanation and enjoyed the awe.

See also the 80's Rankin-Bass cartoon series SILVERHAWKS, which made a big point of ending each episode with an astronomy lesson--after the characters had spent the preceding half-hour roaring merrily through the interstellar void with the top down.
