At first glance it looks like he's getting ready to do what bears are famously known for doing in the woods...
Excellent point about the costumes! I had the same issues with Highlander the Series and wondered at Duncan McLeod's amazing ability to conceal his sword under slacks and a sport shirt.
That could be why he's sending Bucky away. ("All those beans... this is gonna be vile...")
I used to watch HIGHLANDER regularly to see the duels at the end. There HAD to be some sort of magic involved, a sort of nearby dimension where the Immortals stashed their weapons. Imagine Dr Strange appearing there by mistake ("Ow! OW! Damn it, is this some ruse of Mordo again?")
Never thought of a magical dimension, but that could very well explain things. Now I'm wondering how many immortals might have accidentally sliced off their fingers by accidentally grabbing the wrong end and wound up losing their heads because of it.
I never wondered about stuff in comics, it was the TV shows that broke my juvenile mind. In Combat! Lt. Hanley would be wounded enough to be carted about on a stretcher, then next week would be dandy. And Matt Dillon would get in fistfight after fistfight, never getting split lips, etc., which is what the teeth do to them when smashed up against tender tissues after a roundhouse blow. So much better continuity nowadays!
Alsoalso, one of the first few words I learned to read was 'Glen Glenn Sound.' That company must have had a monopoly!
There's a "Combat" fan site that lists the number of times the regular cast members were wounded during the show's run, and they really took a pounding. It's a miracle there was anything left of them at the end of the war!
When I was going through the entire Doc Savage series, I kept a mental tally of all the trauma the regulars survived... beatings, poisonings, stabbings and gunshot wounds, being frozen, the Green Death, the Blue Meteor effects, you name it. No wonder that as the years went by, Renny and Long Tom and Johnny showed up less often. Even Doc seemed awful worn down and battered by the late 1940s.
Man, I always wondered about this too. In real life, a guy with a large metal shield under his shirt would look like, well, a guy with a giant metal shield under his shirt. Ditto Batman, and that utility belt of his. (He used to wear that stuff under his civies in the '70s.) Bruce Banner doesn't have these problems. Just a clean pair of purple pants and he's ready for anything!
One of my guilty pleasures is watching reruns of Magnum P.I. I can suspend my disbelief so far, so how does Magnum manage to hide a full size .45 automatic while wearing short shorts?
One of the nice things about the Christian Bale Batman movies was that it would actually show the various wounds/ injuries he acquired during the course of his activities. Except, somehow all the fighting and tussling he never showed up with any bruises/ wounds on his face. It was always pristine and intact. Also, early in The Dark Knight, Bruce is clearly shown stitching up dog bites on his arm and before he puts his shirt on the viewer is shown lots of bruising and mottling on his back and shoulders. Yet a few days later he takes his shirt off to dive into the sea, and no trace of the wounds. Guess you can't have everything.

He must be hiding it in his ass crack.

"Not on your life, Magnum. I've seen you draw that thing!"
