Might be an English variation of strudel-- boiled instead of baked.

Once again, I'd like to thank you and Doc for furthering this benighted Yank's trans-Atlantic education. Steak-and-kidney pies I've heard of (although I have yet to encounter, let alone taste, one), but pudding is a new one (and, yes, I'm aware of the differing British and American definitions of the term, thanks in part to a friend of mine who likes to partner her holidat roast beef with Yorkshire pudding.)

That's why I appreciate PBS's handling of RACHEL'S FAVORITE FOOD AT HOME, featuring Irish chef Rachel Allen; whenever Allen uses British terminology or metric measures, a subtitle with the American equivalent will flash on the screen--enabling the Yanks at home to translate, say, 225 mg of courgette into 8 ounces of zucchini.

It's a big world with a lot of cuisine to explore. Shows like that cut through the pretension and get to the chase.
