I'm not tripping too much about the Netherlands "pot ban." I have faith that Amsterdam will find away around it just as they've spent hundreds of years finding ways around other things that cost them money.

As Robert Baratheon once said, let's also ban eating, shitting, and breathing ...

Kiiabby, preventing tourists from buying weed is the whole point to the new law, so they are bloody serious about it. Never mind that any tourist who wants to smoke something now will be 'forced' to go to a street-dealer with all possible negatives outcomes. They start with the south because drugs-runners cause most problems. As politicians have no sense of reality they may well ignore the negative fall-out and only see what they want to see.

A friend just went @ the end of 2011-- apparently, the ban is mainly for the areas that border Germany: they have a real problem with people trying to smuggle weed over the trains. Amsterdam itself looks to stay green and smoke-tinged.
