Flowers On The Wall

I first heard this old country song at my paternal grandmother's house in Whitesville, Kentucky when I was about eight. I sort of liked it even though (or maybe because) it creeped me out a little, especially since I first thought they were saying "Dancing flowers on the wall." I don't remember it in there, but I only watched PF once and it seemed well-nigh endless to me. I like Reservoir Dogs much better.

This was one of the staples of my early childhood, growing up in West-Central NC. Looking back over the lyrics now, you're spot on with the interpretation. It still amuses me all the things the young mind glosses over because it's not anything that's on the radar at that age.

My folks LOVED the Statler's when I was a child, and so I've heard this song many times; I actually have (somewhere) a "Best of the Statlers" LP album.
I never thought of this song being a theme for an agoraphobe, but you're right.

And now I have an earworm....
