Y'all, I'm not seriously going to write an epic poem about Billy Joel and Stephen King going on a magical quest. I ... well, I was about to say "I'm not quite that crazy yet," but of course I'm the one who got lost and had a panic attack yesterday while trying to pick Chris up from a car rental place, and the place wasn't just in a familiar ( Read more... )

Why shouldn't you write that epic poem? I once wrote an epic poem/fanfic depicting the continuing adventures of the ancient mariner (yes, coleridge's. As you can imagine, it took colossal boredom to drive me to the point of writing such a thing, but it happened). Point being that the absurd sort of insanity isn't half bad.

...I'm taking things too literally again, aren't I?

The poem was never meant to be a reality, just a jokey way of tormenting Chris because I was unofficially banned from mentioning either of those guys until the party was over. I don't have the energy for an epic poem, even a goofy one.

I know what you mean, though. During my (very brief) college career, I wrote a 6-page poem about the double-irised Chinese emperor featured in Ripley's Believe It or Not and his favorite boy concubine.

Double irises all the way! Wow! (Sorry I had to!)

I've gotten lost around there and I've lived here for the whole of my life...so don't feel bad.

I hope that you CAN make it to the Dresden Dolls Show. They are brilliant, and I'm extremely jealous that they are going to be near enough to you that it is a possibility. I live in Oregon and they are not really coming anywhere near us. BLARGH.

Much love!

I got lucky and ran into Amanda Palmer and Neil Gaiman the other day, buying hats. It was Neil's birthday, and the hats were for their wedding. The best part was, Neil hangs out in my home town of Minneapolis a lot, so we run into each other a little--I didn't expect to see him while I was on vacation in New Orleans:)

Wow, a Straub-tastic dinner if you go!

I enjoy Emma's tweets and briefly met her earlier this year at the Magnetic Fields concert in San Francisco:

The Dresden Dolls show is likely to be fun, too. Hope you attend if you're feeling up to it!
