Is there a way for non-New Orleanians to light a fire under the asses of those people?
I know it's a cliche, but write your congresspeople. Stress that South Louisiana needs rebuilding and protecting not just for cultural reasons, but because a large chunk of the U.S. economy depends on it. A third of our crude oil comes through S. La. refineries. Tons and tons of imported goods arrive through the Port of New Orleans. Louisiana fisherman supply a large percentage of the shrimp, crabs, and oysters eaten in the U.S. Erosion of Louisiana wetlands will lead to destruction of wildlife, industry, and human lives.
