Guh. I feel like so many of the post-ep fics for this are going to leave me feeling gutted.

But letting her hand, the fine bones belying the steel of her grip, slip from his, physically forcing himself to let go of the woman he loves, is the single most difficult act of his life.

This was beautiful and so true, I think. Great ficlet.

Oh, and on a superficial note, I so agree with you that DB's hair at the end made him look that much more attractive. I wish he always wore his hair in a sidepart.

Like I said, this ficlet was a first for me. (I'm way too wordy in general for them).

And if he comes back next year and keeps the part? I'm a goner :)

I watched that had holding scene several times (who hasn't?) and I thought it looked like he almost pushed her hand out of his like he had to force himself to do it. And he definitely made himself walk away.
