→ Met at New Bark Town, as Light's Starter. While Light was initially disgruntled by the fact that he had received such a pathetically weak creature for his beginning Pokémon, he was delighted to find out what his Magikarp could turn out to be, once he had put in enough effort into training her up. Hence, he gave her a name worthy of her upcoming form, and her current personality - Euphrates, after the long, winding river of the Middle East. Now, having evolved into a Gyarados, Euphrates seeks to repay her trainer's unyielding efforts towards training her up, and works hard towards becoming a strong member of his team.

→ Met at Route 29, as Light's first complimentary member of his team. To be entirely honest, the Pidgey's capture was largely fueled by the desire to train Euphrates up at a more efficient rate. Another reason would be that a Pidgey would also eventually evolve into a large flying Pokémon, Pidgeot, which would be able to serve as a useful means of transport at a later time, thus further showing Light's efficiency when it comes to planning for the future. As this Pidgey will serve as his main means to fly across the sky towards other cities, Light named him after the Egyptian Lord of the Sky, Horus. However, Horus is nowhere as noble as the name might suggest. Its nature naughty and antagonistic, he sometimes likes to take Light's Gear and hide it in places, but fortunately Light had already changed the button settings to prevent it from sending unnecessary videos while that happened. To stop it from pulling its pranks, Light made it a point to keep it within its ball when they weren't doing any training - until eventually the now-evolved Pidgeotto learnt its lesson, and only occasionally (because he had gotten smarter over time) sneaks the Gear away to film his trainer.

Her prior trainer had disappeared from Johto, leaving the previously-named-Ampoule Ampharos lost, and looking for a home. By some stroke of luck, for perhaps both Light and the Ampharos, he was to find her snacking away at the thrown out leftovers, having been forced into eating garbage due to hunger (and ineptness at finding her own food, seeing as she's been taken care of for so long). Light renamed her, 'Elysia', after the Elysian Plains, where those who had been 'struck (blessed) by Zeus' (lightning, fortune) rested for eternity after their deaths - mostly because there was no indication that she had a previous name, and the Ampharos was quick to accept, swayed fairly easily by Light's eloquent and charming ways. He didn't seem to be a bad person to follow, or so she thought.

→ Hatched from an egg while in Cherrygrove, just before Light was about to leave for Violet. With Light planning ahead as usual, this Eevee is to be trained specifically for evolution into a Espeon, and so Light decided to give her the name Amaterasu, after the Sun Goddess of Japanese mythology. Amaterasu immediately became attached to Light upon her birth, seeing him as a 'parent figure' of sorts, since he was the first thing she saw when she came into this world. This resulted in her being terribly clingy, and always tried to follow Light wherever he went, even work. Even after her evolution, Amaterasu maintained her deep affection for her trainer, and with her further advanced intelligence and ability to communicate with her trainer telepathically, both pokémon and trainer alike will grow to be closer to each other than any of the other members of the team.
'Anzu' ♀ Current Stats Learned Moves Type: Dragon / Ground

After trying and failing to contact Lynne, he decided to raise the poor, lost Garchomp as one of his own, renaming it Anzu after the Sumerian dragon of mythology. Given, the name also means 'Apricot' in Japanese, which doesn't really fit a Garchomp, but her personality would quickly show that it happens to also be an appropriate name, in that aspect.
