*L is still all of three years old, and wandering around, because the mansion is the perfect environment for tiny children to explore. Only now he seems to be stuck inside a Christmas stocking. He tries to shuffle forward, but loses his balance and trips.

He hasn't started crying yet, but there's some definite lip-wobbling.*

What else do you do?

[passing down another cookie. At three, Light had read any- and everything, right up to his father's legal and procedural texts. Using the dictionary hadn't been hard - and even when he hadn't recognised some or most of the kanji, he'd picked out the ones he did, and the kana. It had been like the way some children read phone books, at first - looking for patterns, and structure, more than for content.]
