While I agree the main story needs no OCs, the multiple Wammy's Houses and L and Near's casework alone (both would have had people working for them) are actually excellent grounds for creating OCs.

It's just most of the people doing this don't bother thinking, and wind up with unnecessary characters who are either wedged into already completed storylines which then makes things too busy, or are extremely inappropriate for the circumstances (like a non-genius in Wammy's House just because the Suethor likes the boys from there). Whichever the case, both turn what could have been a possibility non-viable.

Ahhh.. sorry. I meant in the main storyline. I actually would like to read some good OC centric past or future fics, but as most of these writers insist on butchering canon, I don't think it will happen.

Hats off to you though, for saving canon from these pests!
