I've always liked reading/writing fics about other people's views on the characters. As in, maybe a random passerby on the street walks past one of the DN characters, and the fic is about their random thoughts on them. I also like the idea of chance meetings between the characters, and they don't recognize each other while interacting. Maybe something like Misa running into Mello, but not knowing who he is. Um. I'm not doing a very good job of explaining. >.> Hope that was clear enough.

Also, um, I hope you don't mind, but I friended you! I have seen you around, and your default icon (the Fastball one) is all kinds of amazing, and you apparently like Fruits Basket too based on your icon here, so you're in my two fandoms and you seem cool so...XD; Hope you don't mind? I just love toying with the setting of the DN world. There's so much going on, and the story is tied into it, it's just fascinating (and hilarious) to explore. Needz moar. Hideki Ryuuga pops up SO MANY TIMES in the story. Sayu's watching him on TV early on, then he stars with Misa in a film, and later on, he's on Kouhaku with Takada and Misa. Prior to starring in some show I can only imagine is about the Bakumatsu, like, say, "Shinsengumi!". Which Tatsuya Fujiwara (Light in the films) was in. Also, I do not have a fixation, really.

I wound up making up this whole backstory for Hideki Ryuga for no apparent reason. I don't know why, but I decided that he has this terrible phobia of dogs. And his girlfriend discouraged him from being an actor because she thought he would fail miserably and get hurt/not make any money. XD; I really need to get around to writing this down...

I do like the detailed prompts, though. Except I would prefer it to not have a defined pairing (because my pairing is extremely obscure in the fandom).

But it's up to you to decide. No pressure. =D

Yeah, I agree that defined pairings are probably not the best plan--I might do one or two, since there are some pairings that I personally really want to see that hardly exist, but for the most part, I'm looking at concepts, not characters. (Though I do plan on using obscure characters as prompts...)

As such, I'm sure you can find a way to apply your pairing to a lot of them. XD; Good luck. Seriously, I'm looking forward to seeing how you do it--I really want to see someone make it make sense. I love seeing pairings that are really strange justified in fic--my #1 ship is L/Sachiko.

Oh god, I know. I love your fanfic Kids with Sachiko and L. You were able to make it realistic. Which I love.

The problem with my pairing is that it's a one-sided lust/love; mostly lust. But I could never actually see Soichiro doing something inappropriate to his own child, so there is plenty of angst.

I would really like to see some Sachiko/Soichiro also. Or Roger and Watari friendship...or (if anyone can make it believable) as an actual pairing.

Even Watari/L friendship doesn't recieve enough attention.

Outside of Matt/Mello, Mello/Near, and L/Light, the fandom is sadly lacking. Those pairings exist in abudance because people like them, so I'm not knocking them or anything...I just wish that there were more. So I try to make more when I can.

I've written Sachiko/Soichiro. It's one of my favorite pairings, even though I kind of ship Sachiko with everyone and thus like breaking it up. And yeah, Roger and Watari friendship would be kind of awesome. I kind of see Watari and L as having more of a father-son relationship than a friendship, but anything would be nice.

And really? Your intepretation of Soichiro/Light seems like the best way to go about it. I must admit, it would seem terribly OOC for him to actually do something about it, since it's fairly immoral by most people's standards, and Soichiro is a highly moral man. But I would love to see him tortured by guilt over it. :D

I think a mixture of different prompts would be good. Sometimes, it's fun to try and do something that offers you a fairly rigid prompt (Raito/Mikami in a waterslide park, Mikami hates water and cries something like that!) but it's much easier to produce looser ones (Matsuda, a rainy night) and you get more of a mixture of stories. Also, there's the fun of trying to do minor characters, gen fics, things like that.

I agree! I don't want to do too many of the same thing, it'll get boring for people who don't like it one way or another. A mix of characters, pairings, single-words, and strict ideas is a good way to go, and that's what I was planning, so I'm glad that that's what you want.

But, I do think that that idea with Mikami and the water park is absolutely adorable. Seriously, I want to write that...do you mind if I put that away in my bank of 'things to write once I'm done doing my homework and updating my WIP?' XD;

Seriously, I do think that's the best way for a challenge comm to go though so I'm glad we agree! :D I'm really looking forward to this, I have to say - it's been ages since I've been in a proper challenge comm and I find them often quite inspiring, so thank you for starting it!
