Wow, that seems like a really terrible change on LJ's part. That could be abused endlessly.

As a mod, do you have the power to ban non-LJ accounts, if someone breaks this new rule after being warned?

Yes, that's our worry. While there are people with RP accounts for Twitter and on Facebook, we're worried about the abuse possibilities.

I believe we can do so; I'd prefer not to have to find out.

Yeah, I don't blame you. It'd be nice if there was some sort of maintainer option to only allow LJ accounts, like the disallow anonymous comments option. That way you wouldn't have to worry about it.

So are they counting Twitter, Facebook, and OpenID as "registered users" now? Yikes.
