Letters games, and an introduction.

Would anybody would be interested in playing a letters game? dame_de_pique suggested that others might be interested as well, so I could arrange it if people want.

A letters game, for those who don't know, is basically another kind of roleplaying. Players write letters back and forth as their characters. If anybody's interested, just comment. It ( Read more... )

Oh you! I was wondering where you've been. :D

The idea of a letters game sounds interetsing. What would the letters be about? Just anything?

They can be about whatever, really. It all depends on what the setting/time period/characters. You can decide the plot beforehand, or make it up as you go along (it's more fun if you wing it, I think). Generally the first person decides the characters and setting (with input from the other player) and then writes the first letter, explaining their basic relationships and why they can't meet in person (because obviously there's no purpose in writing letters if you see the other person all the time), and then the players go from there.

It's kind of hard to explain, I think. I can post an example starting letter, if you like.

I've been involved in this sort of thing before, back in the pre-Internet days, most notably in the late lamented APA-Dimentia (which had among other rules, that one could only use original universes, as it was as much an exercise in world-building as roleplaying. Several of my characters might be suitable. (Including the ones I used for APA-D, as I've never played them in the Nexus communities.)

Croup and vandemar make me happy like a puppy given an infinitely re-usable treat. ;o;

I'd do a letters thing, sure why not. Just not with Isamu.

*grin* Croup and Vandemar are so much fun to play. (This is Croup and Vandermun's actual account. I realize I should probably have used that in the first place.) But sometimes I can write them really well and then sometimes they are just kind of... sucky. So they are taking a rest.
