I tend to have some good ideas every now and then. You could also try Animevisions. There might be something in there you could use. It's where I get a lot of my pictures when I have nowhere else to turn.
Did you try the gallery on Aethereality.net? It has a lot of non-series artbooks by various authors, so maybe you can find something not attached to a specific series, and there are more options than classic protagonists.
