If any of you guys know anything about the Kernel Stack Inpage Error - aka the blue screen problem - (especially in relation to the backup and restore program for windows vista), feel free to drop a note.

I'm about to throw a hissy fit you guys.

Wait, you mean the BOD? Blue Screen of Death?

The way I fix my PC is I take the system restore disk and wipe the hard drive with it. (Only in extreme cases because it destroys all the memory)

Yes. It's bright blue and would be pretty if it weren't so ANNOYING dmlpacker January 16 2010, 16:40:29 UTC
Sadly, I just did that 1 week ago. So I find it odd that a virus has wormed its way into my laptop in the short time I've done nothing at all. It only pops up when I reach a certain point during my attempt to backup files. So no backing up stuff for me... :(

Thanks for the advice though :)

Well, I was told once viruses can use anything as a sort of 'back door' to getting into your system (like Notepad, even). If you disconnect from your internet and a virus still pops up, I believe that means it never left.

Did you do system restore = formatting your hard drive, which even wipes program files? Or did you do system restore = back up the computer files, which keeps a part of the computer (old files, programs, etc) in a separate place but still wipes it?

Choose the first and then if you open up your PC and something still happens (without connecting to internet, etc) then I'd have say something is just wrong with your actual PC/laptop thingy.

From my experience, at least. I'm not a computer geek - I'm just a girl who's had to fix her PC waaaaaay too many times without any help.

Yeah, it was a full wipe. I lost everything that wasn't on a USB. Which is why I'm trying to backup my files this time around. I think I've narrowed down the problem source. Every time the backup gets to Program File X, blue screen appears. I've checked online, and experts say it's either a virus or a hard disk problem. I'm inclined to believe it's the disk since I've done 3 separate full virus scans with no luck. Oh well, USBs are good enough for me...
