Elie Wiesel

Went to hear him speak today. Though his topics were very general and (purposefully?)relatively non-controversial, his speech was still quite beautiful and poignant. He's adorable and passionate and genuine.

In conclusion,

Will the world ever learn?

He seems like a genuine guy and I've heard him speak, but my everlasting image of him is sadly a poor one. :P My father wrote a documentary on Holocaust education in New Jersey for which Wiesel was signed on to be the narrator, but at the last minute he demanded more money and refused to do it if they didn't increase his pay. Being a public network, it was kind of impossible. Sad, but oh well...

Oh wow, I had no idea.

Once or twice when he was speaking, I was a little bit surprised at his forcefulness/sureness that he was right (which almost always rubs me the wrong way. I hate it when people act like their opinion is the only one worth listening to). So that bothered me, but this money thing is O.o Maybe he wanted more for his foundation?

Wait, were you in Boston?

And yes, Elie Wiesel is amazing. I've seen him 3 times and a bunch of my classics profs know him quite well. Prof. Espo has even thought classes with Mr. Wiesel. I wish I could have attended TT^TT.

Did you know that Elie Wiesel is a professor at BU? It's pretty awesome ^_^

Heehee, he came to St. Louis to give a general speech. But yes, I knew he was a professor at BU. I was wondering how competitive it was to get into one of his classes...
